@gschenk What was the problem?

9 hours later…

The chain ring was a bit close to the frame. First I used spacers at the spindle, now I have a slim spacer on the spindle and spacers under the chainring. It took a while for that caused I only worked at Christmas it Easter holidays on it.
After that was fixed the bike has been a donor for parts to other bikes and I had to get it all back again.
It's a single oval, narrow wide 52t ring on a CX frame. So things are a bit tight.
52:20 large sprocket and ring make out easier to get magic gear ratio and increase tolerable range of chain tension.

When the only flat part of a ride is a ferry... 😵‍💫

man if your ferry ride has a gradient, .... boggle
Oh is that the lake where people go to water-ski ?

8:51 PM
Technically due to gravity irregularities the oceans have "hills"... However you wouldn't notice "riding" up/down 😄

9:01 PM
fair point - I was just linking back to the old joke about the difficulty in waterskiing, because how hard it is to find a lake with a slope.

9:27 PM
Didn't know that one 😄
On several descents I had to shift down... because the headwind was so strong, stronger than on the top

Yup - there's one climb here which has a short descent near the top, and I'd be blown to a stop by a headwind without pedalling.

A driver yelled at me and simultaneously honked so I didn't understand her. And an old hillbilly walking yelled "Are you drunk???" (Probably, strong dialect), as I was slowly coasting down a road. I have no idea why.
@Criggie Brutal 😬
