yay, answering a question because the existing answer was awful and the poster of it was rude. Hopefully my answer isn't too blunt.

2:18 AM
Good work. +1 would trade again.

@Criggie It's not the price, it's when they say Material: metal + plastic. Oh dear ...

@Criggie the aircon here has been "fixed" so now it's about 28 degrees in the office. The good news is that the server room is back to 25 degrees and I suppose that's more important. 40 degree days in a cheap shitty industrial building suck. Unfortunately the stupid muppet that built the place is my boss, so we can't whine too loudly about said stupidity.

Yah I have nowhere on the folder to attach a kickstand, other than the rear axle which already has the trailer towball.
moz: go shirtless and blame it on the heat
moz: consider colocating the servers in a data center ?
we're looking at about $1500/month plus $800/mo for backhaul from the DC to the office.
thats compared with a one-off of $100k to "strengthen the floor" to carry our new racks

@Criggie we use cloud stuff a lot, but local servers for test etc because bandwidth is pricey here. We're middle of upgrading from 10Mb/s to 50Mb/s...

3:48 AM
well, got a long drive tomorrow :-|

@Criggie we're paying something like that for what we have now, the boss is basically crying about it. $100/mo for a consumer ADSL as backup, then well over $1000 for the 50Mb/s symmetric fibre.
@Batman :(

hoping for no ice along my usual route
but will have to check the weather in the morning

moz: well a DC means you can "go to the DC" when you wnat to get away from work
Our guys in Texas ended up squatting in a spare office at the DC
because they don't get on with their boss so much

I'm kind of more a fan of cloud servers, the security isn't as tight but it's a lot easier to play with most things. Albeit the cost is possibly higher.

yeah - and you still need fat pipes

@andy256 I found just the right hat on eBay: ebay.com.au/itm/…

11:30 PM
Its very.... Lawrence of Arabia, no? Or Mad Max duststorm

But it's pink! Yeah, it has all the features of my DIY ones except that I've never really had the peaked cap part. For $20 I'm willing to buy one and find out.

11:46 PM
well its cheaper than that strap-on brim thing

@Criggie Good first post?

A: Ideal pants for bicycle commuting the rain

J Adrian ZimmerI agree that Goretex will not keep you dry in a heavy rain unless your ride is rather short. However, with my rides of 8-10 miles though, I do not get completely soaked when wearing Goretex pants. I mostly don't wear them for the reason others have mentioned: sweat. I am an all weather cyclist...

can you wear that under a helmet ?

Nice that he answered, and it is a nice post. For a chat site :-)

yeah ok - fair point.

I find it quite tricky to get the balance right between encouraging newbies and maintaining the rules.
Especially since I don't completely agree with all of them!
