Just read an article about the ramen craze in London
not sure how objective and true is it all but that's a thing!
normally in Japan ramen is considered sort of B-class food. Which means not very good, but if you want to go quick and cheap and often dirty too, it is the way to go. Sort of fast-food but with less nasty reputation.
and reading the flowery descriptions of particular ramens + "we ordered few wines" is sort of funny.
Reminds the bread craze here in Japan. At some point of time there were restaurants serving, say, a salad and coffee. And unlimited buns. And it costs like a full-course lunch. Because, come on, unlimited buns!
and people were flowery and all in love about "bread"
