@nhinkle I was working in the US on an H1B 20 years ago. I got the impression that it was quite strict then. The company had to prove that no US citizens could do the job they were hiring me for. The process took around 12 months.
Having said that, I really did have unique skills in those days. I was being hired by the US startup of its UK parent. I was working for the UK parent and they wanted me to do the same job, but in the US.

Hello! Does anyone have experience installing Campa's ergo shifters?

2:30 PM
@PeteH they've drastically loosened the rules so they can import cheap labor, largely from India. They still have the "no US citizens could do the job" rule, but it's hardly followed. Your situation sounds like what it was intended for.

@nhinkle o how the mighty have fallen ;)
@Rilakkuma sorry. No experience with Campag. I did a mechanics course recently and worked on a Campag bike for the first time. The kit was superior to any Shimano kit I've seen, made me almost resolve that my next bike will be Campag.
However I did learn there that a lot of UK bike shops shy away from servicing Campag bikes, because they're not "mainstream". Crazy world....

crazy indeed
I've just got a second campagnolo set today
will replace the whole thing on the second bike so that it will be campa too, but shifters seem to be difficult to install
also, looks like Campagnolo moved to torq screws recently so I need different sets to maintain both bikes :)
that's why I asked here if anyone installed this thing. :) they indeed seem technologically superior but I just cannot figure out how to route cables into them. Manuals on Campagnolo site seem to be broken - cannot unzip them

@Rilakkuma now why doesn't that surprise me? I worked on some shifters (I don't really know Campag's groupsets so not sure exactly what they were), but in terms od the nuts and bolts they were identical to Shimano. But these were quite old. That probably doesn't help you any...

are there many users of Sram in UK too?

yes it's quite popular. Have you heard of Chris Boardman? Ex world hour record, Commonwealth Games, rode for a team for a couple of seasons also. Early-mid nineties. Anyway he is now a very successful bike range, which he sells out of the biggest car/bike chain in the country. His rides win awards for value for money, and all come with sram.
@Rilakkuma The bike store is considered not-very-good by cyclists, but must get lots of people passing through the door
In fact I have one of his bikes also, a hardtail. I don't go offroading much but it's a decent ride.
It has a 2x10 (or maybe 9) sram groupset

@PeteH Campag makes the Shimano "new one every second year" seem fairly minor, and at least in Australia if you want parts from older models you will be importing them from Europe if you can find them at all. And of course, at a significant price premium. IIRC a campag 10 speed chain was more than twice the price of the Shimano version...
