Daughter announced this morning that she doesn't like turkey so didn't want christmas dinner with us......so Mrs PeteH and I have a 4.1kg bird to eat between us in christmas day
Cookbook says that size serves approx 10 people
Just seen there is a game out there called Prison Architect - how cool must that be?

tell your daughter to shut up and eat the turkey
4.1 kg bird is not that big
easy to finish off even with 2 people in well under a week
in fact a 4.1 kg turkey is downright puny. im guessing its just a breast then

2:39 PM
hahaha yes it is "only" 9lbs. Not all that big if you have many people. It is a crown - basically just a breast and wings, on the bone. No legs. That is very popular here because there is no waste. I used to think is was just us being fussy, but apparently everyone here prefers a crown.
Daughter is sailing very close to the wind at the moment, she is spending every waking moment goading Mrs PeteH and myself. It is very unpleasant, my one comfort is that she is 15 and in a couple of years time I will have this immense feeling of satisfaction when I tell her to get out of my house for good.
But don't go thinking that this is normal, our daughter in particular has a few ...... "issues".

3:34 PM
so far you have just described a normal 15 year old.
ugh have to clean my apt

On QI, they just had a question "What was the first island the immigrant ships saw as they arrived in NYC?"
Answers Liberty Island and Ellis Island were both wrong
But the answer they actually gave I thought was a bit of a trick. They said Coney Island. But if you're going to count that, you could just as easily say Staten Island
Reminded me, I had a great view of Liberty from the roof of the appt block, way back
I had to clean out the porch today, to make room for the christmas tree. pita
Mrs PeteH was watching QVC today, the UK channel had one of those fancy Dyson vacuum cleaners on. Made me think about getting one. However the one I would get, I looked on their site, and it was expensive
Must be quite powerful though - cordless with 3.5 hour charge time, only 20 mins run time

dyson is very pricey

yeah, he got a lot of bad press in the UK when he moved his factory out to the far east to save on labour. Until then he was really promoted as a true British entrepreneur.
However we have a Dyson upright and it is very good. The aftersales in partular - we've twice had someone out to look at ours and it has all been very good
but yeah, £400 iirc

4:11 PM
The cheap dysons' are about 300 dollars here i think
but i could buy a cheap hoover for something like 40 bucks
willi get nearly 8 times the value out of the dyson? i don't think so
the hoover is still bagless and stuff

yeah it is the old Porsche versus Ford argument
both get you from A to B

Cool, among today's suspicious emails, I have been contacted by someone at the UN who wants to give me money, and I have been accepted into Who's Who. Christmas has indeed come early ;-)
