Please ask this question in programmers.stackexchange.com. — Roger Ng 10 secs ago
As this is my first time using stackoverflow , I was not aware of where I should ask this particular question. Thank you for the guidance and I'll make sure to ask the same question over programmers.stackexchange.com. — Asad Iqbal 16 secs ago
Programmers only supports good questions. This issue might be something we can help with but this question requires substantial improvements. We require objectively answerable questions. So please make clear: "More mature than what?" before you post. Please don't cross post by failing to delete your question here. — CandiedOrange 44 secs ago

does the Ask Question page need to adjust for site name / tagline change? @ThomasOwens, @RobertHarvey what do you think?

@gnat I would think yes. I don't know what things are going to be changed. I do know that there's an overhaul of the ask page in the works, but that's longer term.

@ThomasOwens I see, thanks. I'd expect something like change "software development" to "SDLC"

1:29 PM
@gnat Hm, if that was mod editable, I'd replace "software development" with "cooking". Just to see how long it would take before someone noticed.

@Yannis this comment in deleted question suggests that some askers notice. Probably those looking for tricks to circumvent a ban at SO...
> "What is your software development question" this question is about software development :)

Can someone put 100MB of plain text into perspective for me?
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that in terms of things I know.

log files? or what do you mean?

context pls.

It’s over 16 million words (assuming 5.1 characters per word and 1 space between each word). It’s about 22,457 pages of book of 32787 pages of single spaced documents. It would take you 27 weeks to type, 76 days to speak, or 41 days to read.
It's a limit in a text indexer. It can index roughly 100MB of plain text per document. I don't think that we'll have any documents that are bigger than 100MB of plain text. If so...that's insane and the creator can suck it.

@gnat I'm actually pleasantly surprised by that.

only 1.5k rep away from having 10k here :o

that's only 15 nice answers. Go you.
(one and a half great answers...) :)

or 1-2 HNQ answers repcapping me for 4+ days :P

more like probably 7 and a half days... :P
I know some people might think I'm nuts, but Whiteboard is the best community on Stack Overflow. Objectively speaking.

Hah, you can't because it's chat - it's the ultimate loophole. :D

Why is it you can log out across all sites but you have to log in one at a time?

@AaronHall You don't.
@AaronHall No. We can refuse to display your contribution. You only need to get credit if we use your contribution.
We can also destroy you.

Rephrase: If you wish to log back in to all of them, you have to do it one at a time.

@AaronHall No. I've never had to do that.

I think that's my experience, but I'm not inclined to experiment at the moment:

Q: Making a First Gen Kindle Fire into a TI-84 Plus-Like Calculator

DrRedPandaFor my math class I need a graphing calculator (TI-84 Plus is the recommended model) and I don't feel like spending $100 on one. Anyways, I have an old Kindle Fire First Gen that's just sitting in my desk. Would it be possible to remove the OS from that and to replace it with a custom OS that per...
