Hello
Can anyone recall a question asked at SO about the effect that one feels when looking at code for a long period of time?
I've been searching but can't find it...
It had to do with the words losing meaning or not feeling "right"...
I'm curious what the name of that effect was.

Alix, if you find it, let me know. I understand the problem though
if you spend too much time looking at a problem, your attention begins to dwindle
I often have a chess game open or a book next to me that I can read
some times I have a branch open from the mainline of code and I can look at potential refactorings that can make the code better
It's not just code itself either, if you can't solve a problem after a long period of time, you tend to get irritable and your mind just blocks the outside world from other possibilities. I've done it often myself, and I find a chess game or something to take my mind off it works well

@DesolatePlanet: I couldn't find it. I searched all my SO and browser favorites and still no luck. The thing you described is not exactly the effect I was looking for.
Imagine you read if/for/while all day long, when you look at english text (in a variable or in a book), for instance "connection" it feels that the word is misspelled.
The question I was looking for explained it really well.
I guess it must have been moved to other SE website.
