Some time ago Mark Trapp asked what a P.SE web site would be about and I posted an answer that received a moderate number of upvotes and a few comments. I've revised it a few times and there hasn't been any commentary in quite awhile so I'm going to go out on a limb and say that its a solid answe...
K ... serious question, which is way too subjective perhaps, even for Programmers.
Hence, I am posting it in chat.
Why ... is downcasting casting to types which can do more, while upcasting is casting to types which can do less? I know since you go 'down' and 'up' the hierarchy, but that is a moot point since you can simply rotate the hierarchy.
In my opinion it makes much more sense to reverse the meaning. :)
... oh well, this is what I hate about SE. Questions get pounded upon as not constructive, until an actual good answer appears, and people start to realize the question actually does make sense.
@StevenJeuris For what it's worth, my close vote was on the first version of the question and I upvoted the second one... Just contributed the third re open vote (as I do feel the current version is just fine), it needs two more... Don't lose hope yet :)
