A: Biological age of grafted plants

J. MusserBasically, not really. I'll take apple trees as an example. As you can see from the table here, there is a distinct age after which the tree begins to decline. Now, that's not concrete (I've seen some apple trees last over 100 years (didn't plant those myself btw)), but generally, an apple tree w...

If you want expansion on any point, let me know.

THANKS! So, erm (I feel a bit overwhelmed :-), there is quite some jargon in there (which is absolutely totally fine! I love your answer) and I will have to re-read your MOST interesting answer a few times to grasp (when I have more time), but for now, can I warp your information to "Grafting rejuvenates the graft". In addition, Would you have any idea how the graft is rejuvenated (i mean, is this DNA level, or hormonally regulated etc?)? The latter question may be worth a new question, though :) Thanks again!

@ChrisStronks I could research that for ya.

That would be awesome. Let me know if you aspire this, and if yes, if you would like a new question on it! PS - FYI: The bounty is not yet available. Another 13 hours ?!.

@ChrisStronks Does this answer your new question?
@ChrisStronks Here's a related thread (by me) that may interest you: biology.stackexchange.com/questions/2050/…

so, upon rereading I find it hard to interpret. Does a graft rejuvenate? I.e., will it potentially survive its mother?

@ChrisStronks Yeah. As said. A new plant made from grafting old wood together rejuvenates it, and it grows as a new plant.

@J.Musser -
Hi and thanks for your answer!
I was just a bit confused as the answer starts with "Not really"
Mmm did the ping work ? - @J.Musser

@ChrisStronks 'Not really' to your question of 'would it die at the same time as its parent?'
Sorry for the confusion

Ah.. I got it.

Any more questions?
:)

:)

That a no?

maybe! Perhaps if you could adjust your answer a tiny bit to reflect this?
Or I can do it, but I'm afraid I'm going to mess up your text
But just let me know.
If I can find the time I will have a look into your bountied questions, but it is not my expertise :) Is going to take a while
But they are massively interesting, as i ponder about toxin-specificity a lot
@J.Musser I have to run for a bit. Thanks again

I'll edit
