Was just gonna do that :)

hello
okay.
first off, you're going to want to mount your OSX partition
or did you not even put it on your hard drive yet?

As in the one on the Unibeast USB stick, right?

oh god

I don't have any partition or anything...
:(

okay
plug in the usb drive and mount it

9:14 PM
I have 50GB ready, but nothing partitioned as HFS+

then, as root, cd over to it

then: cp /path/to/mount/point/System/Library/Kernels/kernel ~/Desktop/kernel_backup

cd, or cp?

cd /path/to/mount/point/System/Library/Kernels

9:16 PM
kk
Just making sure :) I'm new to this after all

perl -pi -e 's|\xe2\x00\x00\x00\x02\x00\x00\x00|\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00|g' kernel
perl -pi -e 's|\xe2\x00\x00\x00\x4c\x00\x00\x00|\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00|g' kernel
perl -pi -e 's|\xe2\x00\x00\x00\x90\x01\x00\x00|\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00|g' kernel

with all of that?

Can't remove kernel: Read-only file system, skipping file.

are you root?

9:17 PM
Yup

this is on the perl commands?

mount -o remount,rw /path/to/mount/point

mount: /media/me/Pie not mounted or bad option
wth???
Ugh. Boyo is this a royal pain.

uhhh
okay

9:18 PM
mount -o remount,rw /media/me/Pie/

cd ~/Desktop
cp kernel_backup kernel
perl -pi -e 's|\xe2\x00\x00\x00\x02\x00\x00\x00|\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00|g' kernel
perl -pi -e 's|\xe2\x00\x00\x00\x4c\x00\x00\x00|\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00|g' kernel
perl -pi -e 's|\xe2\x00\x00\x00\x90\x01\x00\x00|\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00|g' kernel

.
you patched the kernel?

cp: cannot create regular file ‘/media/nate/Pie/System/Library/Kernels/kernel’: Read-only file system

you patched the kernel that is on your desktop?

9:20 PM
Because it's HFS+ formatted?
@Whaaaaaat Correct

md5sum kernel
and that ^

1938ebb0bd6cdc00930543025d3df887 kernel

also sudo apt-get install hfsplus hfsutils hfsprogs
or whatever the package names are
unmount the drive first

and the patch was a success

9:21 PM
Oh
Patch was a success, but I installed the drivers without unmounting the drive first.

oh, do you have your install place prepared?
then unmount

@Whaaaaaat Umm...I have 50GB set aside, yes.

once you finish installing those packages, open gparted and make the partition NOW

just regular hfs+

9:23 PM
kdoke

alright

Correct?

mkfs.hfs -s -J -V "Mac OS X" /dev/hfs/disk/path
then remount, copy kernel to usb, install
when done installing, reboot into usb, use terminal to copy patched kernel to osx.
read this very well: insanelymac.com/forum/topic/…

Stupid same read-only error :P
@Whaaaaaat You said not to follow tonymacx86 guides?
"The Clover bootloader has this patch built-in with the config.plist/KernelAndKextPatches/KernelPm option."
Sounds like Clover would be a better choice...
Helloooo?
@Whaaaaaat You still there?
I think he has gone kaput.
DANGIT! THE NSA GOT 'IM!
@Whaaaaaat Do I need to reboot to be able to write to the HFS+ USB stick?
hehe
I see you

10:33 PM
@Whaaaaaat So, I rebooted, and I still get that stupid read-only warning

11:03 PM
I'm gonna be gone for a while, ping me and if I'm on I'll respond. If I'm not, well, then I'm not ;)

11:24 PM
@RPiAwesomeness ping
