There was a recent post on meta about problems with a specific user.

Since the user in question was unregistered, it reminded me of this post: Let's require registration to ask a question. I'd say score 142 (+150/-8) is unusually high for meta discussion. (But this one probably attracted enough attention.)

In 2014 I was pointed to this comment by Daniel Fischer:

So I take it the only think to do about this for now is to wait patiently. Is that so?

Or maybe to phrase it another way: Has the position of the overlords changes since the answer from 2014 which is linked above?
