Quote: "Fact is, this is a professional site and much of the professional world does not tollerate profanities of any kind" This is the way I'm thinking. But I'll try to understand the ways of the community.
And it's from Stu Thompson's answer, there is also an answer that is totally against (says simple no to the question of if it's allowed on the site to use a certain language) it as I am.
@somethingSomething I am not saying you shouldn't flag. I am saying that you should not use the offensive flag for this. This is not up for debate, that is not what the flag is for so just don't do it. If you feel that the presence of the word fuck is offensive to you then either i) edit it out or ii) flag with a custom flag.
Whatever you do, do not use the offensive flag for this.
Your sensibilities are your own and no one can tell you what you can or cannot find offensive. So sure, feel free to flag or edit or whatever. Just use the right flag for it (the custom one) and not the one that carries automatic downvotes and can lead to automatic suspensions. Those are there for people (and they do exist) that post hate speech, insults, personal attacks and the like. Not for posts that are otherwise fine but contain a single expletive!
@somethingSomething It may well be unnecessary. All I'm saying is don't use the offensive flag for it.
Personally, such words don't bother me. At least not when used in moderation. But that's just my own personal opinion with which you have every right to disagree. What is not my opinion is that the offensive flags should be used with care and not to point out profanity.
