I have Elementary OS and when i try init sudo rosdep init i get this error

I don't know what's the problem...
@edwinksl @Edity - the rep cap is there so you can't three day binge and shoot to trusted user then abuse your powers/privileges. since rep on SE ~= trust, then it takes time to become trusted.
@chaskes well I'm most likely done for the night editing. The site drop down is weird, but mostly complete. If you want, I can try to add you to the project.
Odd. Welp, thank you guys. That's the same issue i have. Ideally that would enable vi editing mode in dash, so you could navigate line, edit words just like in vim. In our case, dash doesn't do that for whatever reason. That's either a huuuuge bug or something else needs to be done
@chaskes yes, all that has to be done in dash after typing "set -o vi"
@chaskes yup , i can see that same output. heemayl might be right. I know there's no readline support for dash, but i don't understand how that influences vi mode. ksh doesn't have readline mode, yet vi mode still works there
@Serg Ok, both set -o vi and set -oV turn on vi mode. Man tells you to use to use the 2nd form near the top of the doc and the first form down by the bottom. man also says vi mode not fully described here but will be in future. Both of these facts make me think vi mode is still being developed for dash.
So now man pages perfectly describe the situation with apps? ;) What I've seen so far makes me think 1) they're still implementing it or 2) they are done but there's a big bug. Either way, it would be time to look at the project pages wherever they are (launchpad? alioth?)
@Serg But the main point was that those kinds of inconsistencies along with a promise for more info later (plus the statement the posix is work in progress) generally indicate things aren't finished or are still buggy.
@chaskes I looked up man page for ash ( which is what dash is based on ) The section on vi editing mode is pretty much the same. I am starting to think somebody on Debian team just bluntly copy pasted man pages without actually implementing vi mode there.
While closing this question , I've noticed a few peculiar things:
Problem #1: not all software for Ubuntu is hosted on Launchpad, so can we change the text to something like ". . . reported on Launchpad or other software hosting platform that developers of your package use" . The OP can try t...
I use Ubuntu 14.04 and in a terminal I became root with sudo su and I wanted to delete root's trash manually. It deleted everything except for a few files that start with a dot. Like .htaccess etc. So I went to that directory (which is "files") and I ran this command:
rm -rf .*
It did delete t...
@Zacharee1 CSS file? I have a better idea - if it's a file on Git, I can just mirror the repository and run a cron job to pull changes every hour or so. Would that work?
I've created new partition on free space of HDD after installation of Ubuntu 16.04.1. I cannot mount /dev/mapper/MYVGNAME--vg-images on boot. Can anyone help me on this?

Well, since I can't insert in the question ask, here is my question, someone said storing text passwords for a proxy authentication was a bad idea and asked if there were any alternatives. I was going to say: Would it work if you had the password stored in your encrypted home file and told the au...
@CristianaNicolae i noticed some of your edits involving code formatting of multiline code blocks use backticks for each line. you should format them as one code block instead using Ctrl+K, which will add 4 spaces in front of each line
@CristianaNicolae and to add to that: you can use the {} icon in the edit box to move selected lines 4 spaces to the right. That will make it format code.
There was a question about using different themes for different applications. it was about about 1 months ago i think. anyone noticed or has the link ?
@edwinksl - In the future, I'll try editing like you said.
@edwinksl What was that?! "DELETE: THIS IS NONSENSE! DELETE: THIS IS NONSENSE! DELETE: THIS IS NONSENSE! DELETE: THIS IS NONSENSE! DELETE: THIS IS NONSENSE! DELETE: THIS IS NONSENSE!" Huh?!
The question asker was bothered by a low quality answer. They wanted that answer to be deleted. But they can't. So, they suggested edit on the answer with those lines :D
I have been experiencing this problem for quite some time now. Whenever I open any site in chrome/FF and click on any link on it, it opens a fresh tab in chrome and with a URL http://wonderlandads.com/afu.php?zoneid=437742 and it randomly redirects to some websites.

The battle with the snooze button every morning is depressing, I should just act like an adult, set an alarm and get up when it goes off. But....... 5 more minutes.
haha I usually wake up before my alarm, I am a morning person, but the tradeoff is when everyone else is zipping around in the evening I am good for nothing
I'm not sure what to do but this person seems to be getting frustrated... they have three related questions today and I can't understand any of them... askubuntu.com/users/464508/cursedchico
@terdon tbh I have no idea, but my guess is the creamy stuff is made from rice. I've had 4 different kinds of vegan tiramisu though - there are lots of ways to do it
