@edwinksl I suppose I'll remove the "-get" again once 14.04 goes EOL in 3 years, as apt is recommended in 16.04+. — Aaron Franke 2 mins ago
3 years... is a long time

@edwinksl You have been called in Wolfbot Sandbox.

@edwinksl but apt-get won't be obsolete by then
@edwinksl can you try the script and tell me if you run into any non-changed bits

@Zacharee1 i have no tampermonkey... do i really want to get it to test your script :p

12:06 AM
@edwinksl no, you can just open the Extensions screen and drag the JS file there
but Tampermonkey lets you update and edit it

@Zacharee1 ok fine i will bite

yay

do i just download and drag?
@Zacharee1 didn't seem to install

refresh?
you need to drag it from the file explorer or downloads page

yeah i did that
anyway i got tampermonkey

12:14 AM
that'll work then :p

and why do i have MJ's "Beat it" stuck in my head right now ?

lol

uhh

wat

@Zacharee1 i have to rename your js file to make dragging and dropping work (i didn't use tampermonkey in the end)

12:20 AM
weird

rename it to sedark.user.js
.user is needed

ohh

do i have to restart my chrome hmm
brb

no
just force refresh AU

not working
also i am using chrome dev version

12:21 AM
use tampermonkey then...

so things might break ;p

All this does is put the CSS file into the HTML
there's nothing special
oh you do need Tampermonkey for this I think

zzz

@edwinksl so does it work yet

wait i am not understanding something
hang on
@Zacharee1 it is active in tampermonkey but i don't see any changes in AU

12:30 AM
force refresh
or open the Developer Console
and see if there's an error

i restarted chrome
force-refreshed

hey

@Zacharee1 ---^
while you are at it, can you rename it to sedark.user.js so i don't have to? :p

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Bad keyword with email in answer: Videos Downloading problem with MultiGet by Hijin on askubuntu.com

@edwinksl sure
done

12:42 AM
@Zacharee1 not sure how much that stack trace helped xD

I need to define it
see if that works
nope

ok let me know when you fix le bugz

oh dear

wat

I broke it on my end too :p

12:45 AM
gg

@edwinksl well it works, even though it throws errors

o/ @JamesTobin

hey

come join us in the bot test room!

@Zacharee1 so i should try again?

12:52 AM
yep
and no more errors now too
If anyone wants to try my dark theme and report issues, check it out here: preview.c9users.io/zacharee1/sedark
You'll need Tampermonkey or Greasemonkey for it to work well

@JamesTobin i promise you the bot is secure :D

@edwinksl does it work?

@KazWolfe where is the bot?

@Zacharee1 no

12:59 AM
dafuq
why does it work for me

@Zacharee1 excellent at first glance. the green is a little too bright, though.

Which green where?

mainly the circles for accepted answers

ahh

but it's a great project, thx. the large white screens hurt my eyes too

1:05 AM
thx for your thx
@chaskes green is slightly darker now
refresh

a little better. just slightly more pale would be good if possible

pale, hmm
@chaskes ok
I think

or maybe just a little less bright. whatever you think

Did you refresh?
@chaskes oh, I think I got it

yeah, that's good

1:15 AM
ah there we go
fixed the orange question links

BACON.

fixed all orange links I think

fills room with smell from eggs and bacon for @edity's breakfast

@jokerdino @JourneymanGeek random question: Have you ever had durian?

@Seth wanna try the dark theme?

1:17 AM
i know I haven't been asked, but there is a shop just 5 min. from my home that has durian and makes desert with it

@Zacharee1 not really..

@Seth :(
@KazWolfe yay

@Seth yeah. It's stinky and tasty.

HUH?
flag dialog, why you glitch on me today

1:20 AM
Durian durian? Wasn't that a band?

Umm

ooh, it also works almost perfectly on SU and SO

@chaskes I heard they stank. Duran Duran OTOH....

@JourneymanGeek :) I never actually liked Duran Duran.

@JourneymanGeek durians are awesome

1:25 AM
@Seth may I ask you to kick this to unix & linux? : askubuntu.com/questions/826743/error-in-rosdep-init

@edwinksl they are.

how do they smell like
my dessert shop downhill won't let me taste one

@JourneymanGeek I ask because I just saw this:
And read the many comments saying they loved it..

thanks you seth ^_^
BBL

@JourneymanGeek but haters gonna hate

1:34 AM
@Seth the smell is an acquired taste...

@Zacharee1 The 0 in '0 answers' is almost invisible

hmm
OK
@chaskes while I'm doing that, reinstall the script
I'm making it ready for multiple sites

@Zacharee1 am i the only one who can't use the script

@edwinksl try again

what changed

1:36 AM
idk
@chaskes where is this 0? The main page shows it fine for me

on the main page.

FF?

@Zacharee1 heh, whatever, doesn't work

weird
maybe it is the dev version

@Zacharee1 ^^

1:42 AM
oh main main page
hang on
for like 20 mins

@edwinksl @Edity - the rep cap is there so you can't three day binge and shoot to trusted user then abuse your powers/privileges. since rep on SE ~= trust, then it takes time to become trusted.

@RobotHumans oh I already know - thanks for reminding me

@RobotHumans yeah i know

I just was reading the star wall, and wanted to make sure

ah okay

2:15 AM
@chaskes fixed

looks good, thx

2:27 AM
Anybody who knows vim here ?
( or at least semi-casual user )

raises hand
but you might be better off asking in:

me too, but more limited

 :chat!

Vi and Vim chat vi.stackexchange.com
@chaskes you probably know more than I do ;p

@Seth very well. Need help testing something. It's not really about vim, but more about Ubuntu's default shell, dash

@Seth No, but I'm reading my books so maybe soon enough.

2:29 AM
@Seth open terminal, type in "dash" , then "set -o vi" , and hit Esc key. Does it show a control char or does nothing happen ?

➜  ~ dash
$ set -o vi
$ ^[

I got nothing

@chaskes no control char ?

no

@chaskes well I'm most likely done for the night editing. The site drop down is weird, but mostly complete. If you want, I can try to add you to the project.

2:32 AM
@chaskes type in "hello world" , then hold escape and press Shift+I. Does the cursor jump to the beginning of line ?

@Zacharee1 I doubt I'll have time to get involved beyond reporting issues to you, so don't bother with adding me. but thanks

Odd. Welp, thank you guys. That's the same issue i have. Ideally that would enable vi editing mode in dash, so you could navigate line,edit words just like in vim. In our case, dash doesn't do that for whatever reason. That's either a huuuuge bug or something else needs to be done
@chaskes yes, all that has to be done in dash after typing "set -o vi"
I guess that's a bounty question . . .

@Serg yes, just saw your reply, so back to no it didn't work. this would be great if you figure it out. I've always wanted this feature

@terdon @muru Might be a good question for you,guys ^

2:58 AM
@Serg You turn on vi mode in dash with set -oV

Hi all :D

hi

:)
What is the similarity between an Air Conditioner and a Computer ?
any funny ans ?

it has fans?

"Both become useless when you open Windows "
:P

3:09 AM
okay?

@SeverusTux lmao

@chaskes didn't work

$ set -oV
Current option settings
errexit off
noglob off
ignoreeof off
interactive on
monitor on
noexec off
stdin on
xtrace off
verbose off
vi on

that was for fun

@Serg Point is vi mode is on, but something else is going on

3:13 AM
@chaskes yup , i can see that same output. heemayl might be right. I know there's no readline support for dash, but i don't understand how that influences vi mode. ksh doesn't have readline mode, yet vi mode still works there

I don't think he's right. Why would man dash tell you how to turn on vi mode if it can't be used?

^ exactly
Also, dash is POSIX compliant shell. POSIX requires that there is vi editing mode

but man said adding full posix still work in progress. maybe thats it?
how do you switch between cmd mode and insert mode in vi mode?

could be
ESC for command mode, i for insert

ok, but that's what's not working. just checking

3:19 AM
God I hate working with humans
Computers at least don't give you attitude

just wait, that's the real nightmare that's coming with AI

/facepalm

"sudo make me a sandwich" won't work then
Or maybe it'll be the only way

3:35 AM
test

@Serg Ok, both set -o vi and set -oV turn on vi mode. Man tells you to use to use the 2nd form near the top of the doc and the first form down by the bottom. man also says vi mode not fully described here but will be in future. Both of these facts make me think vi mode is still being developed for dash.

@chaskes why would they put it there if it's still under development ? I don't think this is red herring

So now man pages perfectly describe the situation with apps? ;) What I've seen so far makes me think 1) they're still implementing it or 2) they are done but there's a big bug. Either way, it would be time to look at the project pages wherever they are (launchpad? alioth?)
@Serg But the main point was that those kinds of inconsistencies along with a promise for more info later (plus the statement the posix is work in progress) generally indicate things aren't finished or are still buggy.

@chaskes I looked up man page for ash ( which is what dash is based on ) The section on vi editing mode is pretty much the same. I am starting to think somebody on Debian team just bluntly copy pasted man pages without actually implementing vi mode there.

@Serg Yep, that's very likely as well

3:54 AM
sigh . . . . i'm done with this for tonight
I have Laplace and Fourier transforms to care about

:) see you later on. It's 2 hrs later here

I looked at the bounties last night, I only got halfway down the page, I thought "I'm too lazy to solve these problems" :(

@Zanna is showcmd (for the world's greatest text editor) off by default in ubuntu?

@Zacharee1 CSS file? I have a better idea - if it's a file on Git, I can just mirror the repository and run a cron job to pull changes every hour or so. Would that work?

I get nothing when I enter that

@andrew.46 - Well, there should be spring now... Be it morning or evening. Oh! Spring! I miss spring!

Spring is slowly moving through
A beautiful time of year...

@Rinzwind those are chinese AND korean characters
but the directory name is still gibberish

thanks

@CristianaNicolae i noticed some of your edits involving code formatting of multiline code blocks use backticks for each line. you should format them as one code block instead using Ctrl+K, which will add 4 spaces in front of each line

@andrew.46 - And now start the celebrations of nature. The revival of nature.

7:14 AM
hi

@CristianaNicolae and to add to that: you can use the {} icon in the edit box to move selected lines 4 spaces to the right. That will make it format code.

@CristianaNicolae Mind you in AUstralia the change of seasons is gentle and winter does not have the sting of the northern winters

There was a question about using different themes for different applications. it was about about 1 months ago i think. anyone noticed or has the link ?

Hi Anwar :)

@andrew.46 hi. how are you? :)

7:16 AM
A little tired --> a long day

@CristianaNicolae as an example, see what i did here vs what you did askubuntu.com/posts/826235/revisions
2

need more sleep i guess

@edwinksl - Actually, I don't use Ctrl+K. I don't know about it. I just... use the backticks, because I don't know better.

Ctrl + K makes the whole line as code formatted. It should be used when whole line is a text

@andrew.46 Amen to that

7:20 AM
but if the code is between some text, backtick ` should be used.
2

@Zanna Long day?

Ctrl + K is a shortcut of adding 4 spaces before a line

done

@andrew.46 my day has just begun

7:21 AM
@Rinzwind quick fingers :p

nah. that one is done on auto >:-D

@edwinksl the request was fulfilled though

@Anwar rinzy got to it :D

I mean the answer is deleted

@Anwar huh, interesting

7:29 AM
Thanks @Anwar!

np

@edwinksl - In the future, I'll try editing like you said.
@edwinksl What was that?! "DELETE: THIS IS NONSENSE! DELETE: THIS IS NONSENSE! DELETE: THIS IS NONSENSE! DELETE: THIS IS NONSENSE! DELETE: THIS IS NONSENSE! DELETE: THIS IS NONSENSE!" Huh?!

The question asker was bothered by a low quality answer. They wanted that answer to be deleted. But they can't. So, they suggested edit on the answer with those lines :D

@Anwar - Aa! Clever!
And funny.
An unorthodox method to bring attention to a problem. :)

@Zanna is your use of playground as directory name inspired by TLCL?

7:35 AM
yes! but my playground is huge now
when I orginally did the TLCL exercise, I was so amused by it, but instead of dir1 dir2 I made swings slide roundabout etc

typical windows solution is availale: remove user profile from chrome and firefox and make a new one _O-

not all users change their default router password, so that's an attack vector
@CristianaNicolae that's the sign that people don't know how to flag for mod attention

@Serg that Q got a lot of love in the end! People enjoyed playing with that sample I think :)

@chaskes MarkYisri suggested cloud9, and it works really well. For now, I don't think I need a server, but could you keep the offer there? :P
Wait what
@NathanOsman that ^^
@chaskes I somehow replied to you by accident

Couldn't mother nature have found a better way than sleep ?

what would you suggest? I love sleep ^_^

I just don't have enough time for the amount of sleeping I'd like to do.

this ^

The battle with the snooze button every morning is depressing, I should just act like an adult, set an alarm and get up when it goes off. But....... 5 more minutes.

haha I usually wake up before my alarm, I am a morning person, but the tradeoff is when everyone else is zipping around in the evening I am good for nothing

I love sleep, but it doesn't love me and doesn't always come when i want it to

@Zanna That's a good trick, what's it made of?

@terdon tbh I have no idea, but my guess is the creamy stuff is made from rice. I've had 4 different kinds of vegan tiramisu though - there are lots of ways to do it
That's a good trick too --> askubuntu.com/a/826929/527764 & your explanation is very clear... nice question
