Interesting behavior, wmctrl cannot minimize maximized windows . . . I have to un maximize it first, and only then i can minimize it

That's a program for controlling windows

you can minimize,maximize, kill stuff with it

another one is xdotool

neither is perfect, but with some time wasted, one can make em work

earlier we had small dispute with Jacob over a question whether the question is a dupe or not . . .

So, I'm gonna be putting together an answer and posting it on the question that i think is a dupe . . .meanwhile he wrote a script on the other question

@Serg right, but what do you mean? Once it's minimised you cannot unminimise it from python, or the gui, or both?

@Seth from gui. So , I minimized active window which was terminal. Then i click on the terminal icon on the launcher - no action. Somehow i got it back just now with the show all windows option ( Super + W ), but regular clicking or alt-tabing doesng work

ah, yeah. I think that's a unity bug.
