Curses. Adding forcepae to the GRUB command line did nothing :(
Still have 3GB :(

You never did tell me what the CPU was.

I think it's an Intel Core 2 Duo T2050
Or Intel Core 2 Duo T5500

huh, looks like Windows does support pae to some extent.
I did not know that.
Also, apparently just googling processors doesn't help you much in the pae department xD

Nope :P Nor does the Intel ARK thingy
It doesn't tell you about PAE, nor about Integrated Graphics. Only times I've ever checked Intel ARK is for those and there's nothing :P

1:42 AM
I'm really liking this ARC theme.
I'd put it on par with, or better than the Numix GTK theme

@chilli555 So, I'm trying to install an older version of Ubuntu on my laptop (the one we were having issues with in the past) so I might need help with the WiFi again.
Woo! Just won an eBay auction! Saved less than I would've liked, but $5 less is $5 less

Source CodeI'm trying to install linux dual boot on my mac. I'm am looking for something light, and I noticed the original Ubuntu flavor has a lot of add-ons. So my question is, is Ubuntu Gnome lighter?

What you prefer most?

@hbdgaf Good one! Starred for the next shift!
@reversiblean I would take ubuntulinix.ninja as that could still be used for non-developer stuff... (more future-proof)

@Fabby do you have a blog?

10:11 AM
@reversiblean Nope...

Any plan for starting one?

@reversiblean :D Not really, why're you asking this?

no I'm just asking. I was thinking about starting a multi author blog. That's why. Let me know if you are interested.

I'm not...

@hbdgaf Remind me which ones? :/

Ah, yes! :D

If you think about getting something from combatagent, they give you a promo code on checkout to try and build a following. So, 15% for you and 15% on my next - so worth it to ping me if you are going to use them.

Currently I have other priorities then clothes... (Until I get a job) :/
Sorry...

Well, I had to make clothes a priority in the job search. If I show up to a table in rags like I show up to work - I'll be doing the same job.

5:49 PM
@hbdgaf I've got a suit and 3 good shirts and ties!

I used to, but I'm starting over again.

:-) Back to the rat race?
@hbdgaf You should contact the guy I sent you emails about...
He has a lot of high-level jobs.
(most in the South)

We'll see I guess, I hit a wall at the current thing, so I have to change gears again - and all the old stuff is not around. Think I'm playing medical care locally.

@hbdgaf well, last time I tried to convince you, it was in the same state...
Shall I send you his linked-in address as well?

That's true. This is within 20 miles. I have about 10 options on those requirements. We'll see.

5:54 PM
@hbdgaf O_o I've been looking in 4 countries and haven't landed anything yet in the last 5 months...

Lower standards, but blow it out of the water. That's my approach. Hasn't worked yet, but it could.

:D I tried that approach too.
First raters hire first raters...
Second raters hire third raters.
I scare people off.

Been there, but the jump from nothing to everything scares people too.

One head hunter stopped sending my CV as she was sick and tired of hearing "Wow! This guy is really good. Do you have anything below his level?" (When I already knew the pay they were willing to give was OK with me.)

7:03 PM
@A.B. OP wanted to shift to root user, and apparently was doing su root
$ su root
Password:
su: Authentication failure
OP mentions authentication failure

7:18 PM
That was weird. That tomato tasted like a blueberry o_O

@Seth It was a blueberry genetically modified to look like a tomato...

eww D:

(did you keep blueberries next to the tomatoes in the fridge?)

nope, I haven't had fresh blueberries all year :(
Only frozen ones.

Blueberries have a strong smell and tomatoes easily absorb smells: that's why they are used extensively in Italian cuisine.
Must have been in the supermarket or the van delivering to the place then...

7:25 PM
@Fabby ah, that is a very interesting tidbit.
@Fabby Actually, it's even crazier. We grew these tomatoes ourselves!

O_o
(Or someone pranked you!)

@Fabby I'm betting it was my taste buds. They must have gotten the date mixed up.

:D

Guys, I have to go. Can someone help this guy
@Fabby, @Serg, @Seth?
He had destroyed the package system and now he has no desktop anymore.

hmm, I don't know how much time I have, but I can maybe take a look.
Seems like it would be right up @Fabby's ally though :P

7:35 PM
@Seth Any bad damage in your area from the wind?
Over 500,000 have lost power here.
(And I wasn't one of them!)

@A.B. going there...

@NathanOsman Not near me no, but my news station has the same figures, 500,000 lost power.

did I read that right? half a million people without power?

@Fabby Total, yes. That doesn't mean they are all still without power or that they were even without it for long. It's just a total figure.

@Fabby Yep.

7:41 PM
Aah! :-)

The winds killed 2 people down here though :(

I heard about that on the radio :(
And we had this happen:
That track is about 40-50 feet in the air... and it still wasn't safe :P

wow

@Seth My thought exactly!

Yeah, it was brutal.

8:14 PM
whoever was putting together my old Toshiba A215 didn't think it through
I need to unscrew everything to take out DVD drive

@Serg It's called "obsolescence by design"

and I call this pain in the butt :p

Cheaper to buy new then to repair...
Yup!

I'm not trying to repair. I'm trying to take out dvd drive from my old laptop and place into my friend's laptop. Which is also old and has a borked dvd drive door.
door. . . .or whatever it's called
well technically thai is sort of repair

Ouch!
Never take working thing apart to fix a broken thing!

8:27 PM
Kinda what I do all the time XD

Gah. I have 7 seconds of video to fill and have no idea what to do for it :P
The curses of pre-recorded/scripted audio
@NathanOsman Umm...wow

Yeah :P

^ is what I'm dealing with. :P
Right now it's just blurred out footage of Audacity.
Never mind. I was able to cut out a bit of unnecessary audio. \o/
First pre-render inbound!

whoever was the designer , they didn't make it easy

?
Oh, your laptop
Oh yeah! And this is a thing now!

@Serg They're Japanese and robots assemble them and consumers throw away and buy new...

8:58 PM
hi

@RonnieDroid Hello.

9:09 PM
@Fabby best way to troubleshoot ;) if you can spare the parts...

@Mateo I disagree 100%.
You could take two non-working things and make a working thing though...
In the case of taking a working thing apart to fix a broken thing, you might end up with 2 broken things!

If you know what parts are broke

I agree with fabby

Anyway... I have plenty of parts usually, so dosnt matter if another breaks
That is why I said if you can spare the parts
OK, maybe I should say quickest way, because you very soon find out what is either broke or breaking things

9:25 PM
I broke ma phone :/ . do we really have to talk about broken things today, :D

Nope. Not really. Sup @Mateo

hi

@Mateo Hi!

@Mateo :D Indeed!

I've activated my render farm again.

9:28 PM
@NathanOsman How many cows does it have?
;-)

haha
What yo think

not too much @hbdgaf new job, full time, not in the field but has a nice benifit

@Mateo "a benefit" = 1???

@Fabby Four machines and counting.
I'm spinning them up as fast as I can.

wow!

9:31 PM
@RonnieDroid Wow - nice!

@Fabby well one of the benefit's is food

thanks, But god rendring takes forever in core i5 cpu

Ah, Google!

<see edit log> - get to take home a few recipes worth every friday

These servers are less than a penny per hour.
Each frame takes about an hour to render.

9:33 PM
Yuch! Kale!
To me this looks weird...
You don't get to pick your own food!
It just is delivered in a box...

Kale isn't yuck. It's better than spinach or lettuce on taste, texture, and healthiness.

well I get to pick what i take, but yeah people ordering just get what they need to cook a meal

@hbdgaf My granny used to cook kale...
I have about 3 recipes of kale, and they're all good,
BUT:
if I use those recipes on let's say something yummy like Brussels sprouts,
it ends up being yummier...
>:)
and all kale recipes start with:

freeze overnight!

9:38 PM
@Fabby I've only liked brussel sprouts once. So, you'ld be hard pressed to make me like it over kale.

haha, well that is why I'm not around as much, didn't mean to start a kale war ;P

Hah. Well good on you for going for something new.
I'm working on the same.

@hbdgaf :D
Our tastes in food differ for the first time!

It was bound to happen. I'm not your clone - that I'm aware of...

okay i'm in a diet and you r talking about food, i gotta go eat something :-P

9:44 PM
@hbdgaf Good! Because I wasn't aware of that fact! ;-)

@RonnieDroid - I'm thawing meat, but I already have veggies cut for something like shrimp creole - but with other meats.

:D shrimp creole but with meat instead of shrimp!

haha thanks bro

No problem. I try...

I eat meat, i don't eat rise

9:45 PM
Isn't that just "Meat Créole"?

I see a lot of different recipes for something creole, but shrimp creole is what I think of when I think something creole. So, I sub in other things and don't call it something else... if that makes sense.

rice**

You can serve it over noodles instead. I eat it that way from time to time.

If you rise up with an Iranian family, you can't pass a day without rice, and i haven't eaten it for about 10 day :/
so i had a dream last night, that will stay a dream for the end of life, I was a programmer, and made a new programing language, and made an OS that made windows and linux so stupid
lol i was laughing at ma dream the whole morning

oooh, I have eggplant that needs a recipe to fix
@RonnieDroid sounds interesting

That looks good

It is
but gets you so fat in about a month :D

10:00 PM
I liked an antipasto kabob idea I saw. Basically, herbed mozerella, salami, olives, peppers. The parts I didn't like were artichoke hearts and something else sort of meh.
@RonnieDroid I'm confident I can't get fat.

@hbdgaf how old r u??

33 give or take, but I have the metabolism of a hummingbird.

I didn't know what this two r, but if you r 33 then it's okay

give or take is more or less. +/-1. something like that.

The Hummingbirds are New World birds that constitute the family Trochilidae. They are among the smallest of birds, most species measuring in the 7.5–13 cm (3–5 in) range. Indeed, the smallest extant bird species is a hummingbird, the 5-cm bee hummingbird, weighing less than a U.S. penny (2.5 g). They are known as hummingbirds because of the humming sound created by their beating wings which flap at high frequencies audible to humans. They hover in mid-air at rapid wing-flapping rates, typically around 50 times per second, allowing them also to fly at speeds exceeding 15 m/s (54 km/h; 34 mph...

Analog Electronics. Particularly , differential amplifiers with Bipolar Transistors
And there should be Project #2 for java, but our professor either forgot to put it online or . . . . i cannot find it . .. or i am an idiot . . . .

You r not an idiot i'm sure of it
java projects can be fun, i wish i had such homeworks
@Serg 'with' was the only word i understood

@RonnieDroid Basically transistors are devices that can make small signal large. That's how come you can hear music form radio and discs. Differential amplifiers are those that take difference of two input signals.
Actually, I am worried about this Java class. The professor seems to be tough
actually, all my friends said she is tough

tough professors r a pain in the nick, but i really good for your future
i have one of them too, but she's the only one that i really benefit from
okay guys gotta go to bed
oh i mean just put the laptop aside :D
wish all of you some sweet 4k dreams

@RonnieDroid sleep well, bro

Have a better one. I'm back to carrots and hummus for snack food, but your dish recommendation could be good.

My laptop is at 92 degrees C

@hbdgaf Dude, Carrots and Hummus is AMAZING.

howlly sh*t

If it's a good hummus that is. My mom has tried buying different brands recently and we've had some pretty awful-tasting ones.

I need to get a good blackbean hummus recipe. There was a local woman that sold blackbean hummus and chips as a side instead of fries for her sandwich shop. It was good.

Sooo I've disabled a couple services on my friend`s Windows 7

Ooo triangular waves. That must be painful to listen to

@RPiAwesomeness looks like a google version, but looks good

@Serg ikr :D
@Mateo It does, but I think it looks better than the current one :P I didn't design it though :)
With logo or without? I think it looks better without
Ignoring the typography alignment & coloring. Just deciding on which looks better w/ logo or without.
I'm beginning to really like the Raleway font. May start using it instead of Bebas...
^ Awesome song that I want to listen to on repeat.
Movie was meh. That song though....

@NathanOsman question about virtualbox: does it have to be configured to work with host adapter or not ? I had virtualbox installation before, but purged it because it wasn't working with my 4.1 kernel. Now , the install from official virtualbox website gets interwebs right away. So I am confused why the other version had to be configured but this one is not

Do you mean "Host-only adapter"?
(I always attach network adapters for VMs to the bridged adapter.)

For instance I have genymotion there, android emulator.
It has internet
which is comming from my laptop

Right, but which adapter is it connected to?

NAT

Hmm... it should still get Internet access though.

11:53 PM
@NathanOsman my only question is that , NAT is right config or not ?

NAT will allow guests to access the Internet but not other VMs or the host.

em . . . my host and guest both have it

Your host has what?

internet connection
host os Ubuntu 14.04
and I've android emulator there and right now installing 15.04
as guests
