12:00 AM
you in the military and doing guard duty during the night or so?
;-)

i never sleep, it's a situation
haha

Ah! Like Steve Jobs!
4H/night!

no i work the whole day, the night is my time to read, write, and become a geek

In 15 years time I'll be able to say: You know, this guy on TV all the time?
At the time he called himself "Ronnie Nissan"
and I've helped him become a billionaire!
;-)

haha
i'd help u if i become like that

12:02 AM
:D Yeah sure... Like you would recognize me without my encounter suit!
;-)

it's so bad i can't down vote, i'd down vote the other guys answer so you'd become top
a fact, i never forget good ppl

Nah! That's not sportsmanlike!
I could do that too...

... but I don't

is askubuntu all u do? your always here

12:07 AM
Nah!
You're just lucky!
BRB Doing smth important for you...

@Fabby can you make a post, a Q&A style post, about how to share Ubuntu folders in a local network??
okay

@RonnieNissan Meaning: answer your own question?
(sharing knowledge?)

Off course!
Just google first!
and double-check!
(because we don't like closing answers as a duplicate)

I did but they all have a lot of unnecessary talk, i'll do more research then will let you know
thanks for the edit and upvote

12:13 AM
@RonnieNissan You're welcome...
Going over all your worthy answers now!

oh that's a pleasure

Don't use "may" "might", "try" in your answers...
if you have to ask additional info: leave a comment!

aha okay

definitely not end with "hope this will help you."
(and you're guessing, so no upvote on that one...)
:P
All the good ones have been upvoted!
:/

haha okay, which one u mean?

12:20 AM
Your last: you're getting better!
and the geary one!
:P
125 rep and you will be able to downvote...

thanks bro

But you'll not like the system of downvoting! >:-)

why?
where u from fabby?

@RonnieNissan because you'll lose rep for every downvote you make!
upvoting is free, but downvoting costs you!
:D
@RonnieNissan I'm a Vorlon...

actually i like it, so no one will down vote until it's a really bad answer
you mean that alien

12:26 AM
@RonnieNissan "that alien"?

i searched google
it says it's a kind of alien
IDK

That would be like me calling you "that Earthling"...
Yes, not from this planet... ;-)

Actually, it's complicated: Mother one country, father another, GF another ...

good i hope it's not as hot as it's here where u r

12:28 AM
Nah!
I've heard the sand is turning into glass where you are now
;-)

so u live in?
no that is Baghdad
i gonna leave to the US after i finish my study

I'm not in the US...

@fabby you got some rep

@RonnieNissan You shouldn't...

12:38 AM
If you serially upvote me, the points will be taken away...
leave it the way it is now...
we'll see

what do u mean bt serially?

You should upvote answers, not users...

i did read and like your answers

So if you upvote person 1, then person 2, then person 3
then again person 1
That's all OK...
BUT if you upvote person 1, person 1 , person 1

Q: How do I install the latest fedora over ubuntu?

bardI installed ubuntu completely but I know want to use fedora instead, ubuntu feels like it's heavier. I have a usb and a cd whichever is easier for me to use. Thanks.

12:40 AM
all the votes will be taken away at midnight US East-coast

@Fabby on mobile. How may I help you my friend

aha good info

The only exception that I know is:
If one person has 1Q and multiple answers.
and you upvote the question and 15 min later one answer and 15 minutes later another, then it's OK
@Serg :D
Could you upvote:
because my answer is the perfect answer
and I want the OP to find it at the top as one of the other (bad) answers already got an upvote... :-(
(and it's a newbie)
(that never accepted an answer before on this site)
@Please??? :-)

I need a new phone. My s3 is terribly slow
And why on earth Ubuntu phone is EU only ? T.T

@Serg BQ Aquaris Ubuntu version...

@serg flash a costume rom and it's gonna be so fast.

149€ is what I paid...

12:52 AM
@RonnieNissan Cool!
How do you do that and is the ROM open source?

Ubuntu phone got worldwide according to the verge
yes CM and Omni r good roms

@RonnieNissan edit your second comment, copy-paste your first comment in it and then Delete your first comment,
:P

you have to unlock the boot-loader flash costume recovery root flash custom ROM through the recovery

and for a rep1 user: always add Welcome to Ask Ubuntu! **;-)**

12:55 AM
Well my s3 is rooted. But I had kinda poor experience with heimdal on Ubuntu and kinda don't wanna go to win7

thanks bro
heimdal is not bad
and going to win7 is not so bad ether
but u don't have to do both of them
you can flash i custume recovery from the phone itself
@Serg
look at this to apps and see which one suits u best
you can flash whatever u want with the second one

Thanks. I'm gonna try it out this weekend

but don't forget to use Titanium Backup too
u r always welcome
good night @Serg

@RonnieNissan See you later.

good night and thanks @Fabby

1:02 AM
@RonnieNissan See you later.

Good night!

@Fabby See you later.

@Serg they are global now

@Mateo All translations still on 100%?
(this is the last time I asked: if you want me to do work, You'll have to aske me again) ;-)
BTW: looks like I'm going to look at post cards this W.E....

1:31 AM
@Fabby should be, I think I'll do a second branch to pull in changes to publish

@Whaaaaaat haven't tested, i just renamed the comment to teward - ecdsa because i can
and put it in id_ecdsa

@Fabby ;)

so it 'works' because it's a default fallback

@Mateo :-)
@ThomasW. It "works" because it's a "hack"... ;-)

Haven't heard back, so I'll make it generic and put in a api key setting

1:41 AM
@Fabby true, but i also made a id_ed25519 now too
but meh

Don't get me wrong: I like someone who can figure out a dirty way to "make it work" and then still does root-cause analysis!!! ;-)

lol
@Fabby i'm burned out for now though

then turn off your brain, forget about it for now, post a question on the site tomorrow...
And go sleep!
That's what I'm going to do as well!

2:28 AM
If someone feels like Downvoting Windows answers on AU
@NathanOsman :-)

1 hour later…
3:58 AM
@Fabby this is one time I wish I could give away the 500 rep, but in this case, business > an answer :/
And it seems no one has an answer.

@RolandiXor I would need an hour behind the machine...

4:13 AM
@Fabby lol
I spent hours trying to figure out the issue, to no avail.
I've decided to use SDDM instead of lightdm, since it just works.
I wish it looked as good as lightdm though :(

If anyone givezs any answer, they will get the 500, even when you don't accept...
I could answer that! >:)
anyway, you found a workaround...
that's the only thing that matters...

@Fabby rofl

@RolandiXor luckily I'm too honest, but what will you do when someone else does?

4:33 AM
@Fabby If it is a valid answer, I can tell the owner to let me see if I can fix the issue and test that the answer works - then award them.

Morning all :)
@Fabby you are here, at this time?

@A.B. being eaten by mosquitoes... :@
falling asleep!

:)
@Fabby and the answer has a deletion mark now
Where is the 500 bounty?

@A.B. I took it away because it's useless to anyone now :(
I am returning the system tomorrow.
If someone could provide a working answer anyway, I'll still reward the bounty.

:)

4:51 AM
LOL

Something is broken, and it isn't @GeorgetheDev.

I thought room name changes were done by the Stack Exchange user.
I guess not.
I'm a bit scared to do this but...

They must have changed it.

@GeorgetheDev what is RebeccaBlackOS?

Hawaii is a Wayland and Qt Quick-based desktop environment with few dependencies aiming at desktop and mobile convergence. It is primarily used by Maui, a Linux system with atomic upgrades and bundles. Hawaii adopted the Simple Desktop Display Manager. The Hawaii Desktop Environment was also adopted by RebeccaBlackOS, a Linux "live" distribution intended to serve as a technology preview. == See also == MoonLightDE – a fork of LXQt that merges the basic desktop components into a single application == References... ==

Hmm... that wasn't nearly as exciting as I expected.

Did anyone install Firefox 40 on Linux?
I'm having Firefox issues abounding.
(Not that I use Firefox anymore, but still).

Currently not

My Firefox opens a blank window
And the Nightly Build shows the title bar mixed in with the nav bar.

@RolandiXor I have Firefox 40.

4:59 AM
@NathanOsman intel graphics?
That's what I'm getting.
Wait - fixed it.
It's an addon.
Now I need to figure out which one.
Okay I have to be honest...
Firefox 40 is blazingly fast!
:23397635 no clue - now setting back up after nuking my old profile folder.

Which addon?
Which addon?

@RolandiXor Sorry, missed your post. Nope - AMD here.

Huh my comments are duplicated

Though I do have a laptop running Vivid with Intel graphics.

Huh my comments are duplicated
o_O

5:13 AM
@NathanOsman what I thought it was, it isn't. No worries.

Cool.
Looks like we might get kernel 4.2 in 15.10.

Yes! I read so today :)
Hopefully it will also mean no more reboots ;)

Yeah, that would be cool. Although I shut down my computer overnight anyway to save power :P
The only machines that stay on are the Mac Mini and Raspberry Pi 2.

I put mine to sleep

I wish I could do that with my desktop but it really acts up if I do that.

5:16 AM
Oh :(

I'd hibernate but I only have 1 GB of swap and 8 GB of RAM :P
(I have a rather small SSD so space is at a premium for most partitions.)

lol
I was about to ask what's up with that

Well, I have two disks - a 160 GB SSD and a 2 TB mechanical drive.
The 160 GB disk has all of the Ubuntu partitions (/, /home, /var, /tmp, etc.) and the 2 TB one has Windows (I prefer Ubuntu to have the advantage).
The 2 TB drive also has a large "general use" ext4 partition that I use for random stuff.
But swap needs to be on the SSD for speed's sake.
And since there's not much room, there's not much swap :)
I supposed I could have added a second swap partition on the other drive with a lower priority...
...but meh - this works.
A lot of the stuff on the 2 TB drive is also backed up to a 2 TB NAS connected via the network.

Hi, everyone.
It shows me, With linux GRUB uses 32-bit protocol. Some BIOS services like APM or EDD aren’t available with this protocol. In this case you need to use linux16
why linux command does not support EDD?

@Takkat you here?
Any thoughts on this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/660844/how-do-i-recover-my-data/660853#660853

@Rinzwind on some phones you can't read the internal "SD Card" with PhotoRec, on others you can.
We usually can recover data from external memory however.
I bet the user did not unmount the phone before unplugging.
At least it appears very unlikely Ubuntu formatted the phone without user action.

@Takkat ehm. that might be it.
added :)

can't +1 again :"(

LOL

7:54 AM
100k network-wide rep users should be allowed to accept and to unaccept answers of other people's questions.

@Takkat here answer this: askubuntu.com/questions/660850/… and Ill upvote
@Takkat agreed BUT with the addition of a time frame of say 1 month

@Rinzwind the question is not made for my synapses... no idea what they want us to say.

or maybe better: have it for 50k+ users and make it a REVIEW item.

@Rinzwind yeah 5 community votes needed.
Privilege: vote to accept an answer.

I also want to revoke accepted answers from topics where I answered myself though >:-DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

7:56 AM
There may already be a on Meta SE
@Rinzwind please only accept my answer, because the other answer won't add to my rep.

@Takkat also needs an exception: if a user answered in a topic he can not vote for an acceptance
@Takkat suddenly everyone passes Oli >:-D

lol - that'll still be hard.

Oli
Rule 34v2: If you can think of it, not only has somebody made porn of it, but somebody has suggested it as feature request on MSE, and it's status-declined.

yeah - for very good reasons I bet.

@Takkat RUN RUN RUN!

Oli, what happened to your position in the yearly rep? A.B. is running ahead of everyone.

user136984
I mean I think that the problem is with an EOL, but they do desperately want to upgrade...

ahh ok

user136984
But I guess that they should just do a fresh install of 15.04, and we can't help them any more than that.

heh, yeah

10:27 AM
@A.B. Fantastic!

and/or copy stuff that's essential offline

10:53 AM
@NathanOsman My /home is on the HDD instead of the SSD. (as mine is is only 80 GB)
@A.B. not bad... (or you wouldn't have received an upvote) ;-)

._.
(I have a pair of 250gb SSDs. Wouldn't imagine anything smaller)

@JourneymanGeek even with a 60 GB hard disk you can multiboot freeBSD with some editional 5 linux distro, sharing swap file between the linux ones. That is if we exclude Windows from the story.

@pigeon my Linux install's on a 1 tb disk . my windows desktop has 3 tb +250 gb :p
I like my space :p

@JourneymanGeek If you are using it, that should be reasonable.
