Hey guys I just updated it what you think:

@Zignd That is getting there, I like that you added a description.

@mateo_salta this is the official description from Ubuntu Planet.

works great for that ad format

12:37 AM
@mateo_salta I starting to think about became a Designer instead of a computer programmer. ;)

There is a lot of crossover, from websites to user-interface (I'm starting to want to know more programing), I really like logos

That looks a lot like my desk. Did you get it from Ikea?

oh, so ikea has black wood desks huh?

I'd like to have one of this.
Mine is terrible to use a laptop. So I use the kitchen table.

I'm contemplating removing the bed from my camper to have room for one again.

Is someone agree that this meta post should be reopened?

Oli
@Lucio 90% of that question appears to be about forcing people through a FAQ step which is completely duplicate. If you want to discuss the button design, I'd suggest starting a new question just about the button design.

12:50 AM
@Lucio Short of putting a timer and forcing it with persistent cookies I think your cause is lost. Also, I always use chromium in ninja-mode so I would have to wait on every login. So, no. I don't agree it should be reopened.

Oli
@Lucio No, I think I've made the same mistake that I made last time when I read through this. Ignore me for a minute

that and they already put this in:

Oli
@mateo_salta Schmancy.

@mateo_salta that's nice. i like the near monochrome buttons ;)

I just noticed that it was there when I opened opera up and didn't have the login credentials on that browser, putting the about page right in-front of new users
so that is what new users see first

Oli
12:54 AM
@Lucio Can I suggest you reword it a bit? It still sounds like you're talking about pushing people through another step (per the duplicate) rather than the design. I know you do mention the design (which is not so duplicate) but it seems like a very secondary consideration. Make it the focus of the post.

seriously? askubuntu.com/questions/271946/… so we aren't supposed to ask about real ubu-touch questions but file name mismatches for shell scripts are okay? i'ld like to kill it with fire

@Oli Ok
Thanks to both @Oli @CallmeV

Can you help me with this question ?

so like, I've had experience using qemu to setup an arm version of ubuntu , though I didn't understand too well about the inner workings of it all....
Can qemu be used similarly to wine
It would be great to not have to install a whole windows OS just to run windows firefox over qemu
qemu could be an awesome solution for me since I'm on PowerPC....
there are a couple apps i'd love to be able to run through a windows emulator
wine doesn't work on powerpc and virtual box is a little bulky...
I wish someone made a cloud service so I could run windows apps in the cloud

@Mahesh the launcher transparency switch. when you turn it off, the launcher should go black right?

@jokerdino dark, not black.

i think it is working weirdly.

Confirmed.
File a bug. Hunting it.

by default, the switch should be on and the scale should be at 1/3
the unity setting calls it opacity. so, we are doing it in reverse.
off switch should put the value at 1 and vice versa.

@jokerdino restarting UTT fixed it. :|

yes. why?

Not our bug.
gsettings key changes properly.

also, the panel transparency.
can we set it at 0:True?
or at least update the scale.

@jokerdino it works fine. what is the issue?

we are setting the panel transparency at 1/3 but the scale remains at zero.

Hello! I want to record my piano using my laptop, via line in. I have same jack for line in and line out. How can I say to my laptop: "Hey, I want to use line in instead of line out."?

I've just discovered if I don't insert completely the cable that comes from piano it works as line in.

Where I can set this? Thank you.

o0
you probably ought to get something that coverts 3.5mm trs to trrs
or make a cable that does the same

I have the cable that connects the piano with laptop.
<= BIG JACK (from piano) > --------------------------- < -- Small Jack (that goes to laptop)---»

one moment
Big jack looks like this

Yes, you are correct.

little jack looks like this

11:18 AM
That (big jack) is inserted into piano. And the little jack into laptop.
I can listen on laptop what does I play on piano. How can I set to record from line in, insted of microphone?

(random and first thing I found on google. I can and do make connectors like that myself when needed ;p)
Its not something you can, generally, set in software

Wow, and this would work like there would be two jacks: mic/line in and line out?

yup
basically your 'combo' jack is a little jack with an extra ring

Yes. Thank you for link. I think I will buy it soon.

so its shared ground, mic, headphone headphone. When you plug in a TRS jack, the mic part of it on the phone is grounded, which is why pulling it out a little helps

11:22 AM
Until buying that jack isn't possible to record something?

@JourneymanGeek, thanks. I'll check out ms virtual pc, the reason I want to run it is I really miss being able to run Line on my pc line.naver.jp/en/#

I say again, that I can listen into laptop what I play.

Line is what everyone here in Japan use for text messaging
Naver Line website used to have a web client ... it was awesome. I never had to pull out my phone
but now they only offer mac or pc software clients

so I just want to run the client... actually there is a youtube video that shows that I can run Line on Wine

11:23 AM
@JoshuaRobison: ahh

but Wine is not installable on Ubuntu for PowerPC
so i thought I could use qemu because I'm familiar with it and it is a bit lighter
lighter than vpc

OOOH
I see what you mean

I thought about building wine for the powerpc but not sure what kind of trouble I'd have with that

Q: uninstall delta search

BethaneeDelta Search seems to have outsmarted attempts to uninstall it by hiding from Change/Remove option in Control Panel. It shuts down SpyHunter and is undetected by Avast. Has anyone managed to uninstall it? I am willing to buy a new cleaner/anti-malware programme if I can be sure it works. Thanks

Might be worth a question, either on AU or SU. I VAGUELY recall you could run linux application on quine

11:25 AM
I build tons of stuff for this machine all the time because it is not directly supported

@Mitch: looks like it, and there's an identical question on SU

I'm going to go ahead and close it as OT

it is however a browser hijack and I guess it could affect ubuntu systems, but with the information, its a crappy question

@John default should work

Is there a way to suggest edit so that the original author can review directly themselves?

@JoshuaRobison You can't .

The user that i would like to contact regarding this does not provide email details in user profile or their website.

Windows is built on x86-64

@Journeyman Geek

12:09 PM
yes?

posted recent chat text please read

@geezanansa: doing an edit will send the author a notification
is it one of my posts that was edited?

@Journeyman Geek Not this time no. You were the first user i recognised in chat room! thought would try to address somebody rather than nobody! Sorry to bother you

OH
see, that makes sense
(since I actively encourage people to fix anything I might have missed in my answers ;p)

@Journeyman Geek The [suggest] edit was made using the edit method which was not accepted by reviewer which who am sure was not the original author Just would like to contact author directly for their opinion directly.

12:15 PM
@geezanansa: ahh, k. Thats slightly tricky
there's (by design) no PM-ish system on SE for arbitrary users

@Journeyman Geek Have managed to save a draft copy though just need to contact author directly.

comment I guess

@AmithKK Default it's recording from incorporated microphone.

12:38 PM
@Journeyman Geek have been using comment to suggest edits but have spent time suggesting/fixing formatting and adding headers etc ... the answer that is involved is very long. Thought would be more appropriate asking here. Is it appropriate to try and contact author through another chatroom (if they had one) or just post them directly here in this chatroom. Not used chat much.

1:17 PM
@geezanansa only if the user in question is logged in to chat (anywhere in SE) they will get notified. You may e.g. leave a comment to their answer asking for joining us in chat.

@Takkat nice timing; thanks

you are also welcome to discuss your edit suggestion with other people here in chat. This may at least give you an idea why it was rejected.

I guessed that due to the length of answer reviewers simply did not have time to consider all the changes due to workload.
and the answer is related to question that many people are not interested in
so probably would not see the point
of accepting edits
Is there an easy way to confirm or search for user on SE?

Sometimes an edit is considered as too radical, esp. when it changes a lot of the original post. Why not write an own answer if there is that much you need to change?
For chat users search: chat.stackexchange.com/users

1:34 PM
The point of editing was layout formatting and grammar which included adding headers i only deleted two comments which are opinion and not fact . I know the authors first language is not english and so thought would suggest edit. The answer was not radically changed just rearranged mostly
Anybody would be struggling to add to what the author has achieved and has thanked me personally in helping highlighting a pretty severe inaccuracy

Well, usually format edits are not rejected. It happens however that two users edit at the same time. This leads to a reject of one of both edits. Link to the answer?

Q: Reviewing suggested edits: don't rely on the canned comments only!

guntbertI recently switched sides from suggesting edits to reviewing suggests. Now I see how when my rejected edits got canned comments (like "too minor...") I didn't really learn how to make better edits. When on the other hand a reviewer took the time to really explain the reason for the reject I took...

@geezanansa, I was one of those who rejected your edit. I did it because you were trying "to remove/change parts which have been written on purpose and with good reason" as I said in my reject message.

@AmithKK you owe me 6666666666 LTC
which means you'll be losing about 1500000 BTC
in which case i win

you owe me 7.67478 x 10^25600 usd too

BTC crashed no?

@jokerdino it came back down to about 75 a few days ago because of mtgox death
it's back up to about a hundred, maybe more.

it was trading at $250+ just last week.

then it crashed

4:14 PM
now it is back to 100?

$265 was the peak, then gox froze, and the amount plummetted
@jokerdino Bitcoin-Fact: When mtgox halts trading and freezes its trading, the price shoots downwards. quickly.

bitcoin24 exchange head had a question on Stack overflow.

because sale orders are still processed, but buy orders aren't, so the price shoots downards.
fortunately, I got out around $175, put all my BTC into gold. :P

hehe
that's some $75 loss prevention.

4:16 PM
btw, gold is also dropping value due to Cyprus.

@jokerdino but its price will still be RELATIVELY stable long-term, unlike bitcoins

true.

so gold, silver, etc. are still good "stable" investment options if you want to have something physical.
also, when the internet dies and we're in the stone age, gold and silver and stuff will be methods of paying for things again. :P

i am still waiting for that to happen.
