12:00 AM
There is something.
On the first page, there should be more space between the site names and descriptions.

@OctavianDamiean Okay, thanks - I was wondering about that one.
They were originally further apart, but I thought I would "save space".

Other than that it looks good so far.

Great, thanks.

I'll keep using stackmobile and give you feedback. :)
@MarcoCeppi The election notice is gone again. :)
Time to get some sleep. Night everyone. o/

Night.

1 hour later…
1:15 AM
@GeorgeEdison is it working?

jrg
@RolandTaylor yes.
Really have to resist the urge to sit here and play with github service hooks. :S

@RolandTaylor Yes, it's working.

K, I have to reset my password, then I can vote.

jrg
1:32 AM
@RolandTaylor i can't remember what email I used for it. :P
so I think I'll just sign up again

@GeorgeEdison I've finally gotten myself to work on a model for open tracks (about to start)

jrg
@GeorgeEdison still says not enough data, :(

@GeorgeEdison StackMobile is looking good on my Nokia phone :)!
Only bug (possibly caused by Nokia's Browser, since I'm not using Opera Mini to test (disables javascript) - is that the "StackMobile" text is partly hidden by the "Options" button

@RolandTaylor Hmm... that may be an issue with screen width.
@RolandTaylor Cool.

jrg
@RolandTaylor jabber?

1:47 AM
@jrg I'm on

jrg
I have a idea to bounce off you.

@jrg Other plugins are displaying "works" with 3 votes :)

I'll sign in now

Hint, hint...

jrg
I don't see you

1:48 AM
@jrg I don't see you either :(
just TheX

jrg
@GeorgeEdison I already voted on it. :(

That's odd... it's saying only two people voted.
Maybe it's cached.

@GeorgeEdison sorry about that, I had forgotten to switch back to that tab lol

jrg
I'm using empathy @RolandTaylor, what are you using?

Hrm... still doesn't work :P

1:49 AM
Gajim (nightly build)

Well thanks everyone - looks like it will need much more data.

@GeorgeEdison You're very welcome :D

jrg
Ok, i'll see what I can do about Gajim since I only use jabber now. :P

I am signed in on Empathy right now too, do you see me?

@AmithKK it's not rigged, just centred :)

FOSG FTW!
@RolandTaylor Dude, Can you teach me one thing?

@AmithKK what's that?

@RolandTaylor How to Make some vertices in the center of a cube a circle and Extrude it smoothly

@AmithKK that is rather tricky though
I know different methods for it, but it might not be smooth though
You could probably merge a cylinder and a cube for that

3:59 AM
@RolandTaylor But it wont be MonoMeshed

@AmithKK you can do that, using a boolean operation.
If you do it any other way, it won't be very clean

@RolandTaylor How
I got it
@RolandTaylor The cylinder looks scratchy
@RolandTaylor
Not my model :D

4:28 AM
back
@AmithKK that model is rigged right?

Yep

A: mplayer can not play audio from cron when ncmpcpp playing

aquaherdThe problem seems to be that mpd runs under user mpd per default (as a system daemon) and is thus unable to join your sessions' pulseaudio mixer, therefore it hogs the sound card output via alsa or even oss. @AmithKK I mean the old graph you could have in the good old days..

@Alvar indicator-multiload

@ajmitch that's the one! :D
how can I add that to my upper panel?

install it & it should show up?

btw, 11.10 looks like an ugly version of mac os x, with the side dash and just an upper panel... :D
@ajmitch you need to start it..

maybe have to log out first, but I've been using it for awhile
it just starts on login for me

@amithkk It looks like its up from here. FYI, bundle install or gem install $whatever does take forever.
Reason why is because it downloads the entire package list and there are no mirrors.
@ajmitch Yay! Someone else running precise!!

w00t. It is fixed. Now I can use the activity journal.
Any packaging gurus around?
I want to know if it is possible to package fbuntu.

Guess who has bought an Apple Magic Trackpad?
@Gigili You had a question yesterday.

1:27 PM
'lo! \o/

jrg
@OctavianDamiean does it work?
@jokerdino do you have updates for xserver-xorg-core?
or did you already update to those?

I upgraded earlier.
I remember having it either yesterday or earlier today.

jrg
Ok. so its "safeish"

1:44 PM
@jrg Just found out that I have no integrated Bluetooth device in my X60. I have to get a mini USB dongle. -__-

jrg
@OctavianDamiean That sucks. :(

@OctavianDamiean Kind of got solved, I wanted to ask if you've ever used viber.
'Ello.

i don't think so...

jrg
haha
nice

@htorque Any new interesting bugs in 12.04 that you came across?

jrg
1:56 PM
@Gigili I've looked at it before, haven't played with it (much).

Other than the radiance sub menus :S

@jokerdino nope, i'm currently collecting memory leak data

jrg
I keep getting this same bug with plymouth.

@htorque Oh right.

jrg
and the ambience sub menus are broken too.

1:58 PM
@jrg I am talking about the same thing. Ambiance sub menus look like Radiance sub menus.

jrg
@jokerdino never really used Radiance for more than a few minutes, so you could be right. :P
Ok, how can people live with radiance?!
the terminal is so screwed up. :P

there's a new unity ubuntu launcher icon - me no like
cannot make a screenshot unfortunately
valgrind wouldn't like it :P

jrg
Did you compile from trunk again?

ya
the icon now stands out more

jrg
So I'll see it in a few hours then

2:01 PM

@jrg actually I spend more times on TeX.SX
see my accounts
TeX.SX has a very nice community too

2:24 PM
Crap ... gotta buy a USB Bluetooth dongle. Laters everyone.

Personal challenge. I am going full Radiance for a while.

jrg
@NN Ah cool!

OK. Can't take radiance anymore.

jrg
@jokerdino see?
bad enough my submenus are radiance, I don't want the whole thing too!

2:36 PM
It is just weirdly weird.
I am going to do something about the submenu.
Where should I be looking?

jrg
IDK

I am doing some simple elisp excersive and have wondered why my function failed, I got an error message. Now it does not throw an error but gets into an infinite loop. Success!

oh wait, no skype in 12.04?
Hi @Allan

@jokerdino don't you need to enable the partner repo

2:51 PM
They are enabled.

@jokerdino Howww Deee

And there are no software in the partner repo.
But, one thing I really like is the tool tip in the launcher.

jrg
@jokerdino no skype in 12.04, because the partner repo doesn't get enabled until beta 2 iirc.

Oh. I didn't know that.

jrg
at least, it has never worked for me before that point.

Q: Activity log manager is not preventing Zeitgeist from logging files

VivekI am running Gnome Shell and I do not like Zeitgeist indexing all my files. This makes the search in dash very slow. I do not want the dash to search recent files, so I installed activity log manager to prevent zeitgeist's logging activity. I configured the log manager as below. But even after...

he keeps on talking about files appearing in Dash and in the first line makes it clear that he is using gnome-shell

He is talking about the gnome-shell overview.

that doesn't use zeitgeist
out of the box

He doesn't know that.
I know it uses the recent file thing.

3:47 PM
I edited the question.

Right, my Magic Trackpad works! :)

Right. The above question can effectively be closed as a dupe.

11.10 is kind of annoying, there is no easy way of getting an over view of all your windows!
is there a command for this that I've just missed?

Super + W

super?

3:51 PM
Meta / Windows Key

@jokerdino that only said some numbers on my icons in the dash

Super + W

@OctavianDamiean I did that..
it just shows the dash with some numbers on it

You running Unity 2d?

I want to change windows ..
@jokerdino yes
3d was dead slow after 5 minutes O.o

3:53 PM
No overview in unity 2d :/

@jokerdino whaat?

Well to change windows you Alt + Tab.

well how will I then change windows?
@OctavianDamiean thanks :P

jrg
@OctavianDamiean Whats it like?

So far it is pretty nice. I have to configure it though.

jrg
3:57 PM
is it just a "normal" trackpad mouse replacement?

Hello all
@jrg IRC/Jabber Pl0x , I have a ruby problem

jrg
@AmithKK hangon, it'll have to be IRC since I'm in the process of moving between 11.10 and 12.04.

@jrg Kinda but with multi-touch and gesture support

jrg
@OctavianDamiean Ok, I need one

Good night all!

4:00 PM
Night.

@jokerdino cya

4:25 PM
@jrg Oh? I wanted to make sure if it's really 100% free.

Ok, that thing is pretty awesome.

jrg
@Gigili Well, let me install and take a closer look.
You talking about Viber @Octavian?

Nope, the Trackpad. :)

jrg
oh. ;)

@htorque @jrg Seriously, Nobody noticed the "lick and toggle the icon to change position"

jrg
4:27 PM
@AmithKK i think its a kerning issue

@jrg Thank you. =)

Hey but Viber looks quite interesting as well.

@jrg ?

jrg
@Gigili I don't know anyone with a Viber account, so its a little difficult.

Never mind if it's difficult to test. Thank you anyway.

jrg
4:31 PM
Ok, here is what I've discovered:
- its free to call viber to viber, but it uses your dataplan.
- otherwise it goes through your cell carrier.
Does that answer your question?

The only problem is this.

Q: Apple Magic Trackpad freezes when I tap with 3 or more fingers

csabikaaaaahI bought yesterday an Apple Magic Trackpad. The device is work out of the box (I'm using 11.04 64-bit). But when I tap with 3 fingers (or more) the device is freezing (and it doesn't work). It works just if I disconnect it and then connect it again. Is there any solution to disable 3 or more fing...

jrg
@OctavianDamiean nobody has a solution or any sort?

Not sure, just ran into that problem and found that question.
I'll investigate a bit.

jrg
@Gigili that means that instead of using normal phone "minutes", it uses the dataplan you have - so you might run into your carriers data limits, so you'll need to be careful.
(hopefully I'm making sense)
@OctavianDamiean if you can't figure it out, ping me and i'll tack a bounty or something on it.

@Gigili Give me a second, I'm going to install this Viber thing.
@jrg First thing I'll do is check LP for bug reports, maybe it was reported already.

jrg
4:38 PM
I'll be waiting for Octavian to call me via Viber. runs
@OctavianDamiean okie dokie.

Bah, thank you so much @jrg, @OctavianDamiean.

jrg
Hey, its saturday, i'm bored, i can't find any questions I can answer, and I'm stuck against a wall with this project. What else am I supposed to do? :P

Talk to @Octavian on the phone!

buenas mornings

jrg
Morning Jorge.
gungans didn't frighten you to death?

4:44 PM
hola senores
@jrg he's a ghost, trust me.

jrg
pfft.

Great ... Viber keeps crashing after I've activated it.

jrg
Ah, android. Even the dev preview of iOS 5.1 isn't crashing with Viber. :P
(sorry. had to take a jab. :P)

This is kinda disappointing.
They should pay me for debugging their application.
Alright, no luck with Ice Cream Sandwich. Let's try Gingerbread.

jrg
How is ICS? I keep hearing its good, but I don't have a android device to try it on. :(

4:56 PM
It is awesome.
Best Android version I have ever used (and developed for).

jrg
Cool!

does anyone have a canonical "How do I install Intel video drivers?"
I am sure we have one
I found some that are just basically "Where do I get drivers for this intel card?"
and then answer is almost always "you have them already."

We should gather a list of canonical answers.
Kinda like the meta faq tag.

am thinking of writing ebay api implementation in python.. something like what you see is what you get ... developers can just enter the options and the query/result would automatically be generated
they wont have to go through ebay docs or like code writing
would that be useful or waste or time?

jrg
Isn't there already a eBay API wrapper?

is there any good one in python?

You mean something like this?

jrg
Not saying you shouldn't make it, but you might be able to help make an existing project better. Plus it helps you make friends. :)
Not sure if this is good (I'm ruby, not python), but I found this - github.com/roopeshvaddepally/python-ebay

I'm referring to the Try It part.

5:18 PM
@OctavianDamiean: exactly!!
@jrg: i wish to provide an interface.. like you run the code, put some inputs, if they are valid you get the results

Sounds like a good idea.

jrg
@Dragos Oh, so an API web console. :D
That'd be useful.

@OctavianDamiean: should i make it web based or core python code?

@jrg DUDE! You must get such a Trackpad!
@dragosrsupercool Well if you want to program it in Python you could use a Python based web-framework.

@OctavianDamiean: umm so you think web based would be better ?

5:22 PM
Yup.

jrg
@Octavian Ok, send me the money. :p

Er, yea. That is a problem. :P

(Please, do not flame me).
@LuckyDellboy welcome.

This has to be a joke. I have added a PPA just to find out that it won't work on Precise. No big deal, ppa-purge to the rescue, right? No. Of course ppa-purge will fail to remove a package if apt-get update fails.
Just amazing.

PPA-purge is very fickle. I had to go through about 3 or 4 tries to remove a PPA with it once.

I'm just going to do it manually.

jrg
6:39 PM
@RolandTaylor Wow, just wow

@jrg :)
Ikr?
"Don't call it Gnome! Ubuntu stole our ice cream cone!"

Meh, I don't even pay attention to that entire topic.

@jrg to answer your comment, of course I run precise

@ajmitch can you update your lenses? :D

@RolandTaylor my one lense?
I suppose now that the API allows easier cancellation of searches, I could do that

6:50 PM
\o/
LP Lense for Precise!

I didn't think anyone actually uses it

I'd totally love to.

What would you love from it though?

bug search, project search and ppa search.

by bug search, you mean searching by title/description across multiple products?
project search is fairly easy, it's directly exposed via the API

6:54 PM
I'd have to take the time to look deeper into what it could do before I answer that, but it should allow the user to be logged in, show their own projects, search for bugs, search for other projects, and find PPAs.
(If that is possible)

Mhmm, mostly Ubuntu bugs.

@RolandTaylor some of that is tricky

...and yes, I did use your launchpad lens (and something else that was in your PPA, but I don't remember what it was).

I mostly only use my PPA for staging builds before they go to the archive
unless you use a PHP 5.4 RC I uploaded :)
I'll take a look at what I can do with it then
