Soooo.... How's #EuRef #Brexit going? Which team are you folks on?

They thought it was all over. It is now.

Haven't found a single scientist here today who's happy with the result. Christ.

Well, duh, this means you guys will no longer be eligible for EU grants.

The EU is funding a lot of scientists, so this could get messy

Next week I'm at a five-day H2020 grant-writing meeting in Italy. That's potentially going to be a massive waste of time.

Ouch... yeah

Some of us are wondering if we'll manage to negotiate something like the system for Israel, Norway and Switzerland, but it's my understanding that eligibility for that would depend on the extent to which free movement was permitted (that's my understanding of why the situation is currently changing for Switzerland, anyway).

Switzerland has some sort of deal where they don't actually fund EU proposals but swiss groups are eligible to apply and, if they get it, it will be funded directly by the swiss government.
Something like that, anyway

@terdon That's so strange. They outsourced the grant application process?
And I guess the setting of funding targets process

No, it's that they won't fund EU projects but fund their own citizens through them. So, instead of giving their money to the EU to be redistributed, they keep it and pay it out to the Swiss winners themselves.
