「なぞなぞ」の方もさらにすごくなってる…。「質問者はwordplayと書いてる！」だそうですが、つい10時間前に自分が全く逆のことを太字でコメントしていることを‌​完全に忘れているし、 Earthliŋさんは「言葉遊びをcloseしろ」とは一言も言ってないのに「賛成です」だし…。ひどい支離滅裂…。

@DavidZ I don't frequent a lot of chat rooms, but it seems to me that this room is mainly used for discussing physics and not for social chit-chat (though we do that too :-). That makes it different to most rooms, because it's much more functional than most.

A theme that emerges from the chat you linked is that rooms cannot say this is how we do it here and expect people to comply.

I agree that rooms need to be welcoming of new members, but I strongly disagree that we should welcome new members who don't want to talk about physics. Or more precisely, welcome new members whose activities are to the detriment of discussions about physics.

Yes, it's unacceptable for room members to be nasty (to anyone, not just new members) but this is a room for discussing physics. This is how we do things here and we expect new members to comply.
