A: What species have identifying characteristics from multiple types in kashrus halacha?

Can you cite any of this? How do you know seaweed or penguins are questionable?

NBZ
@DoubleAA No no, they don't need citations. They are questionable because it is not clear what they are, and they potentially could get their own question, just like T. Rex got. We only need citations for decisions to what they are, which implies their type (except if you can find something chewing cud, with both scales and split hooves, etc.).
@Shokhet A link to that goes in the superscript tag.

@NBZ Then how is this question objectively answerable?

NBZ
@DoubleAA What is it about cows that may cause someone to consider it safek bird, safek fish?

@NBZ What is it about seaweed or penguins that may cause someone to consider it safek plant/bird, safek fish?

@DoubleAA Seaweed: Free-floating like fish, leafy like plant. Pinguin: Winged like bird, generally lives in the water like fish.

@NBZ Was I supposed to guess that? Why should "leafy like plant" indicate safek plant? Why should "lives in the water" indicate safek fish? Cows drink water like birds, and have two eyes like fish.

NBZ
@Shokhet I have not taken the time to add more than two. I'll bli neder continue tomorrow.
@DoubleAA How do you like it now?

@NBZ All right, then.

@NBZ Same as before. It isn't objectively answerable until you clarify a precise metric.

I think the answer would be of much greater value if all or almost all were edited in, though.
@DoubleAA Maybe "has come under halachic discussion"?

Either wait for these judaism.stackexchange.com/q/50304/759 to be answered, or ask for examples that "rabbis" have said were questionable.

And then provide a teshuva or journal article that discusses that species.

@Shokhet That would work.
Asking for species that have blue tonails and green antennae isn't on topic here anyway, so unless you give your criteria Jewish basis, it's probably off topic.

NBZ
The idea here is that they may very well not have been asked.
I'm also not able to find it, even if it has. However, together, the MY community may be able to make something useful here.
However, I must go home now, or risk serous sholom bais problems. :-) I'll come back to this tomorrow, bl"n.

@NBZ You don't have to link to a question here; there are plenty of teshuvos and/or articles online that you could link to for that purpose.
Although it would be nice....we have a nice one about turkeys that you could use :)

@NBZ That could be. We could also contribute our time to finding Mersenne primes, but that's not how the system here works. So too here.
