@Mooseman I don't even know how that I put that there. Must've accidentally hit something. Thanks for editing.

Folks, do we consider small-scale biodiesel production a lifehack? If not is there a stack where it would be on-topic?

@NickAlexeev Most likely off-topic here. Engineering SE may take it.

@Mooseman hi I wanted to talk about the technology tag

@vladiz ok

@Mooseman It looks very wide because it includes not only "laptop", but other like tablet, cell phone, computer...

@vladiz We do also have , but yes, should include laptop, tablet, etc.

so actually it can replace many other tags

It could be split up, but this isn't a technology site.

2:13 PM
technology tags are also cars, appliances, headphones, hardware, cables, batteries and other
sorry I can't explain it very well. I mean, isn't it better to have tag electronics or similar, because technology can be not only electronics, but chemical technology, cooking technology, software technology ...
you are right, it is not technology site indeed

@vladiz True, but that's not how the term is generally used.

@Mooseman @vladiz Just a quick IMO - could be broken down into a few smaller topics like which could cover laptops, PCs, and any peripherals like printers, speakers, keyboards and whatnot without having to have those all as specific tags and wouldn't get confused with a technology site. I do personally think technology is extremely broad and can be broken down into smaller but still fairly broad topics.

@MrPhooky But we're not a technology site. Although is broad, questions ought to be tagged with tags specific to their physical problems. One example is .

@Mooseman I understand we aren't a technology site but as a counter argument we are neither a clothing site, we have which is nice a broad, people are happy with clothing and what that covers but there's also a tag for which I would have thought would come under the clothing tag.
And secondly - and

@MrPhooky Yes, could be under just like could be under . However, would be nearly as broad as . If anything needs to be split up, it's .
I also don't agree with your tag "toilet". Bathroom is plenty specific.

4:59 PM
@Mooseman Well I would argue that is no where near as broad as as this encompasses everything like phones, computers, games consoles, video players, MP3 players and iPods, tablets, etc... whereas computers targets in on the computer system, just my opinion is all
Yeah I'll give that toilet isn't necessary :/

@MrPhooky If we need to split it up down the road, we can consider it then. Since we're only covering physical problems, I don't see all that many questions being tagged . We do have and already. If we get numerous questions on gaming consoles, I'd agree with splitting that out, since they're used uniquely from other .

Q: A Lifehacks Manifesto

Robert CartainoThis is a gentle introduction to what this Lifehacks site is about. For a bit more detail about how we got here, see the Un-Manifesto. Welcome to Lifehacks! We can't teach you how to wire your stereo or how to learn a new language; but if you need to open a bottle of wine but don't have a corkscrew

Q: The UN-MANIFESTO (commentary about the Lifehack site and how we got here)

Robert CartainoI recently posted A Lifehacks Manifesto, but I wanted to post this commentary separately to keep that introduction free of the historical baggage about how we got here. Building a Lifehacks site is hard. It doesn’t fit our "normal" rules, and it tests the limits of what we can do (in a good way)...

Rob's post was great. We should work on putting that into the Help Center once we clean it up a bit.

If that's done before mods are appointed, I suspect he will be the one to do so.

Yeah. And it seems like they're getting closer to choosing mods (hopefully)

Hope so. I guess there's no point in choosing mods if the mods are all moderating on their own standard...
