12:10 AM
@JoshPetrie Oh, ok, because Gnemlock has started the work on it already. I don't complain about him removing the tag, it's just that I would have guess we'd have waited a bit more...

I learned how to do custom inspectors!

Will have to do it more now:-)

12:34 AM
I'm stepping through my collision system trying to figure out which segment-segment collision is blowing up...
^^^ How it makes me feel :P

Nice.
Now that I know how to do this, I think I'm going to do it in a few places...

user4704
@AlexandreVaillancourt Ah. shrug

I might even have to do something with all of these tools that I'm building.

12:50 AM
@JoshPetrie Heh! :)

1:00 AM
Not quite random, but still, put together by my program!

1:47 AM
Found the issue: Parallel lines
sigh It's always parallel lines...

2:12 AM
I think I will have the buildings look nicer if they are upgraded, a nice little visual hint.
Upgraded buildings don't do much yet, but...
But that's for a later date...

2:46 AM
@PearsonArtPhoto yeah, players need their rewards. plus makes it easy to see which ones aren't upgraded yet.

6 hours later…
8:55 AM
Morning.

user92578
Good morning!

tips hat

9:10 AM
gentle fart mornin'

9:31 AM
evening

Blasphemy!
It is clearly morning. Off with his head!

look
I'm sorry I'm from the future

Blasphemy!

What's happening this evening / morning
I was playing some Horizon: Zero Dawn finally for about an hour

I just got up

9:45 AM
Good ol' camera bobbing making me slightly sick to my stomach

getting ready to go bring my boy to school

i wish I was one of those famous youtuber families
where I just stay home all daya doing stupid shit

follow ur dreams
you can make it big
and then youtube will shut down your income

and then i'll make videos about how ridiculous youtube is
YOUTUBE KILLING CREATIVITY A FOUR PART VIDEO SERIES
ANNNNNND SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON!!!!

10:04 AM
like and subscribe

"Don't forget to enable notifications or that subscribe button means nothing..."

I'm surprised how well behaving people actually are in youtube, it's the worlds third largest website afterall

10:29 AM
i mean.... youtube has videos, of coruse people use it

even better, it has cat videos!

it has a lot of really stupid videos.
99% of the videos on youtube are garbage.
But that is the beauty of the internet.
the sheer volume of shit you need to sift through

google admob is not behaving, I'm requesting to show an ad from it, but nothing happens. no errors no nothing'

good.
fuck ads.
they don't belong in games.
When I sit down to play a game, it is to get away from the stresses of my daily life -- last thing I want is a fucken ad to pop for any fucken reason.

they are optional, you don't have to view them

10:39 AM
If you support ads in your game, you go to hell, you go to hell right now :P

well, it's not my decision to have them

Yeah i'm over exagerating
But I understand the need for them... because of the shitshow that is mobile

yeah I'm actually thinking that no mobile games ever again after this one

And quite frankly... that is a great example of why we shouldn't support this shit
Do you seriously want PC gaming to turn into a mobile shit fest?
its already starting

nope, I'm with you on this one :P

10:41 AM
i also wanna be done with mobile, but I need to update picross touch another time
Did you know that if you ban a workshop item on steam (like if you are the game creator and ban someone's creation), it temporarily bans their steam account for a day for each banned item?

premium mobile games I can tolerate, but I also want the demo versions of them

Like.. there is absolutely no warning that this is going to happen

wtf lol what

I ended up banning like 4 people for 4 days for stupid puzzles.
and they got pissed off
I had no idea it would ban them.
i just wanted to ban their stupid puzzles.

can you just remove them instead or is a ban the only solution?

10:43 AM
well this is one guy telling me thjis... he might have been fucking with me
Quite frankly i'm not convinced, but he sounded pretty pissed off over it
I can remove them.
"Flag as incompatible"
they are still there because it is their submission, but no one sees it
But I banned 4 people that submitted 4 shit puzzles that take absolutely no effort to make or complete -- and to top it off, they named them like "Achievement bullshit"
Then they come in the discussion forums freaking out calling me a liar and a asshole
Even after I apologized and reversed the bans
They are still super pissed, so I'm like "What else do you want me to do?"

give them five copies of the games for free! 1 extra for the 4 days banning

fucken paid games don't even provide you with apologies or support like that.
oh no.
I'm working on this ban system inside the game itself.
next person to talk to me like that gets banned from the game
No soup for you.
You can still play, but you are gonna need to use a different steam account.

hah

2 hours later…
user92578
12:54 PM
C++ers around?

user92578
My dev console class allows classes to bind console methods to instances using std::function

user92578
I just discovered a bug which solved a critical issue but now that I fixed that, I gotta nail this one

user92578
I need a way to remove those std::functions that are owned by a class once the class is destroyed

user92578
How would I do this?

user92578
void*s to the owner that is std::paired with the std::function seems like a terrible solution

user92578
12:57 PM
so going from std::map<std::string, std::function<void(std::vector<std::string>)>> to std::map<std::string, std::pair<void*, std::function<void(std::vector<std::string>)>>>

user92578
and then when the class is destroyed I can check if it corresponds to the void pointer in the pair?

user92578
oh wait I could replace the void pointers with an interface that actually automatically removes all commands mapped to the instance in the destructor

user92578
Does this sound resonable?

probably :)
Yeah, that makes sense
Man Hyper-V is friggen awesome

1:12 PM
Except when it gets into a state where it can't turn off a vm because reasons =p

1:25 PM
But the management api is pretty decent, aside from the fact that it's powershell of course

2:09 PM
@jgallant what's this hyper-v thing

virtualization software
it is built into windows

what exactly does it do?

you can run guest OSes
the thing is that it's built-in to windows, you don't need any additional crap

oh so you mean like VirtualBox or some such

yes

user92578
2:18 PM
how is the performance jon?

user92578
I'd be happy to try something new since the performance I get on the guest is so terrible on VB for me

ok cool

the performance is fine until you do graphics
then it is pure shit

user92578
graphics as in OS with UI or graphics as in launching a game?

game

user92578
2:33 PM
what OS did you run?

user92578
I'm intrigued

user92578
it requires changing something in the BIOS doesn't it?

ubuntu

user92578
uuh I definitely need to give that a go then

you need to have a proc that supports hyper-v
msinfo32

user92578
2:41 PM
yeah I have support

user92578
always scary to go and fiddle in the BIOS though

4:54 PM
@Tyyppi_77 if you haven't done that then that explains why virtualbox has terrible performance
The difference between the two is hyper-v goes "lol nope" and virtualbox goes "okay, I gueeess"
@Tyyppi_77 and no it's not =p

so I can't test with this galaxy note 4 because when I plug it in, my keyboard stops working

USB port overload?

I don't know :(

5:28 PM
so like... i just realized that if a PC is unable to run at 60FPS, GORB physics break down
the actual threshold seems to be 30fps

uh oh

yeah... lol

6:19 PM
interesting

user92578
Yeah, interesting to see what the future holds

6:42 PM
interesting indeed.... MUWAHAHAHAHAHA
added a inputbox for a quick GOTO page style browsing. Exciting fucken stuff right here.
i'm adjusting the UI so shut up about the sizes
BTW in that steam newsletter, the communities they said they never expected, was picross touch

user92578
cool

user92578
and a gem to be found is gunhero

7:20 PM
Yeah man your game is fucken pimp

Hey guys!
I have a 3d grid with a start and an end point on the first and last layer, and I want to create a curvy path from the start to the end
Do you have any ideas how I could achieve that?
I'm thinking about creating a random weight between the nodes and running a path finding algorithm on it

user92578
7:49 PM
Bezier with random values?

Snake algorithm in 3d
It is a pathfinder that gets the longest route

user92578
lol

I'm serious lol
Compute it stupidly
Get 5 routes and take the longest or whatever

8:13 PM
I'm currently having problems calculating 1 route
I think I'll simply go with the pathfinding way, I don't really need it to be the longest
I want to see how fast I can make an android game similar to those arcade things.

3 hours later…
11:08 PM
@jgallant oh snap! Would it work to clear a level? make the game run at 0.01fps for the green-block is safe check...
@Almo You'll need a good powered hub between the two. That or the cable is borked and shorts out the usb port.
