12:00 AM
yeah, I turned down the ambient and directional lights to test the effect.
I've already tested the technique with 70,000 point light sources in 1080p 60fps on my GTX 560M :P
But the previous code was just a hacky prototype. Cleaning it up a bit so I can render multiple cameras.
To do split/screen and cut-scene stuff...
I need to add some backdrop, that'll increase the effect.

12:31 AM
How is this possible? Wut is this technique? Did you just render light without doing geometry first?

I am curious what you did

It's an old trick. This guy's blog post explains part of it

1:05 AM
I am gona read it

2 hours later…
2:59 AM
spamming colored point lights all over the place :D
Magic spells are gonna be pretty sweet :D

@StephaneHockenhull ah it's just 2.5d game. I thought you were doing full 3d game

7:32 AM
@DH. ah thanks I'll add a check

2 hours later…
9:46 AM
someone is pissed off that i banned his puzzles.

popcorn
I'm trying out Unity 5.6; seems okay

10:19 AM
been there, done that.
it broke some of my sorting layers.
nothing too significant.
i also need to spend more time with Anima2d

2 hours later…
11:51 AM
Man... 250 puzzles short of 3000 .. workshop support is massive success.
3

12:03 PM
So what I am going to do, is take all those puzzles, and rework them all 1 by 1
make them pro and put them in packs.
or delete it.
also going to shove the data into a dictionary or a hashset or something and try to weed out dupes
put it up as DLC on steam and then wait for everyone to freak out
lol
naw, its gonna be packs for mobile only.

12:26 PM
maybe also filter them out by similarity? like if it's 95% the same

what do you mean?
like group them by a category?
I'm still blown away that I am #6 on google when you search "picross"
I mean, that is fucken pimp af
or #8 on google.com actually

you have a 9/10 so don't be surprised if you become #3 :D

the first ones are like wikipedia
then the webgames, there is no way I'm going to top those.
i haven't done any type of advertisement or anything

12:41 PM
you can overtake the gamefaq sites

It is a no bullshit picross game, worthy of being packaged with the windows OS alongside minesweeper
:P

and it wouldn't be surprising to overtake others since yours is a "no ads, no bullshit" type of thing
adding the customization of the workshop is like the perfect combo

well some people hate the no bullshit

well I hate that you got so popular you fuck

They want music, and timers, and fail flags
music is not going to happen.

12:43 PM
I was making a picross game until I saw yours for free and I went, "fucking shit, someone already made one for free"

but timers and fail flags, I can do as options.
LMAO
its not like i'm the first person to make picross.
I just think I made it better than the rest of the crap out there.

yeah, but you're the first one on Steam for free xD

True :)
Pretty sure I am going to make GORB free on steam
I think it will draw attention and possibly generate sales on mobile.
and if not well at least people will have played it...

make the first 3 worlds free maybe?

I kinda want to make the entire thing free and get people to create videos
walktrhoughs and shit
I don't have the time to do that

12:47 PM
mm not sure if it's a good idea to have a free game on pc and have the same one pay-to-play on mobile, maybe just put a demo in there first? test the waters?
well, I'm the only person to have bought the game and left a review, so I can kinda understand why you'd want to make it free

i think that people would pay to play it on mobile because it is pretty much a mobile game

yeah, could be, well go for it if you want to, nothing to lose from here on out :P

except money

well, by my logic, you wouldn't think of making it free unless the money you're earning from Steam sales is really low. Although, maybe wait for the summer sale and make a big sale of it first?

1 hour later…
2:17 PM
Playing with the light angle. What do you think?

user92578
lower one is better

doesn't seem to be a way to make a paid game free on steam.

user92578
yeah no you gotta contact valve in the forums

Do you think the glow makes a huge difference?

wut? seriously?

user92578
2:21 PM
yup just look at the discussions, there's a bunch of topics with people asking their game to be made free

user92578
I don't know what glow you mean

The reflection
The water is pretty reflective, which leads to a large clow area. The lower one shows a different light angle.

user92578
well no, not really, I just liked how the lower one has like lighter beaches next to the lake at the left side

This is much less reflective, for comparison.

user92578
oh I see

user92578
2:24 PM
that looks smoother and maybe a little nicer. perhaps something between the two?

I've had someone suggest that I make the water less reflective, more like the last one. I'm thinking at least a part of it might be the angle, which is why I'm playing with the top.
I guess the real question is, which one is better, 1, 2, or 3.

user92578
Well out of those I'd pick 3

3 for me too, the glare is too strong in the other two

Interesting...
Alright then, let me try something a bit smoother (no pun intended)
Thanks guys!

2:40 PM
That's a non-hacked version, does it seem about right?
(Incidently, this is part of the reason I'm going to change my world generation, sometimes the worlds are just too flat...)

That looks pretty good to me

Okay, thanks!

3:19 PM
I agree, the shine always bothered me, I thought it was a WIP so I didn't mind it that much, this is much better.

Huh. I guess I just never realized it was so annoying, until someone finally said something!

@jgallant so you gonna make workshop GORB?

it was planned.

3:35 PM
yeah it was planned, I already have it started its actually quite far along
GORB editor coming along. #indiegame #madewithunity https://t.co/aUH0GXw6WG

3:51 PM
So still is planned?

i'm not going to spend time on it for 100 users no.
unless I make it free then it would be viable.

Ahhhh.

ah right
I remember you saying that now
smart

So the question is then, will you increase the number of users by adding the workshop.

absolutely not -- no one knows about it, no media picked it up
Its not worth talking about

2 hours later…
user92578
5:34 PM
@DH. should be patched now

6:51 PM
Can i ask a question?

You just did. So, I guess you can.

From what point do you consider a road as unusable?
A smaller one, the one between houses in the suburb

if (entropy > 20%) {road = unusable;}

There's a road here I cycle on every day, there aren't any potholes on it, however, there are parts, where the top layer is missing

If I have to drive slower than 10 mph because I'm worried about damaging my car, that's unusable.
that's for in town.

6:57 PM
I usually try to pull up the bicycle's front to avoid damaging the wheels
Which makes going to school feel like an obstacle course

7:37 PM
i have to run at like 25km/h on roads like that... end up wrecking my shins

8:04 PM
@Bálint if its surface area is 20% what it's not supposed to be, it's just not worth riding / driving on (like on a forest road, if 20% is just huge rocks)

3 hours later…
11:14 PM
I was going to ask waht the song was at 1:50
But then I figured it out

11:42 PM
I'm debugging 2AM code at 2AM, because f*ck myself.
I think everything's right
Now I just have to wait 15 minutes 'til it ends, to see if there are any errors
I don't understand the time limit on this task
I have 45 minutes per try and I have to process 200 items in the least amount of steps (1 step = moving the item, putting it down, picking it up, etc.)
If I just go with the lazy way and wait 3 seconds between each move, then I can do it in around 15 minutes
And with the absolute minimal step count
