Quite the great debate that was going on before I got here.

2:29 AM
@Leggy7 just saw harakiri. you were right, good shit.

3 hours later…
5:45 AM
While filming, Tatsuya Nakadai was afraid during most of the sword and spear fighting scenes because real swords were being used, a practice now forbidden in Japanese films. His concern was not alleviated even though professional swordsmen were employed during the choreographed swordplay.
wow

user92578
12:39 PM
nice, that'll be really helpfull actually

user92578
69/100

lol, 38 for desktop speed
but 98 for mobile

user92578
that detailed email thing sucks though

user92578
> Google may send me recommendations for certain Google products and services and contact me with further help and tips based on my TestMySite results.

Jon
1:07 PM
yes upon further inspection it is a shit spam tool

user92578
yup

Jon
there are much better tools for this

user92578
links?

1:32 PM
I mean, it's a site that tries to associate it'self with google. Of course it's a crap site
Wait it's actually from google?

user92578
can it be

Huh
Google says it is

After last week's little progress, it's nice to actually make decent progress for once...

Jon
2:05 PM
sorry just got back
Here is link to a good one @Tyyppi_77
There is also this one from Google, which is better, not sure why they did the other
Like, it is the same thing, but better.
YSlow is my favorite, use it at work
Losslessly compressing jgallant.com…t/themes/BLANK-Theme/images/terraria.gif could save 985B (78% reduction).

user92578
does that do the mobile layout stuff?

Jon
YSlow, no not really

user92578
because that was the most valuable information to me

Jon
however, it does in a sense, because it tells you everyting
It won't tell you your fonts are too small
It is an optimization tool, to speed up page loading times

user92578
That PageSpeed from Google looks pretty much the same as the other one

Jon
2:14 PM
that is my point, its like they just repuposed the other one to spam mail shit

user92578
yeah

user92578
anyways I'll definitely go trough that list

user92578
my site is awful on mobile

Jon
i also need to spend time on my site.

I just need to make a site...
At least I have the domain now...

user92578
2:22 PM
Where did you get your domain?

user92578
I need to get one too

2:47 PM
@Jon here I made music am I doin it rite? soundcloud.com/full-synthetic/quadrature

Jon
3:14 PM
Can't listen for a while on phone until tonight

I flagged the duplicate, and it's marked as helpful, but the question is still open. What's going on? gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/123432/…

4:44 PM
Anyone know any good JAVA Isometric API's?
For Game development more specifically

5:19 PM
@Tyyppi_77 Who am I, to you?

1 hour later…
6:42 PM
@Tyyppi_77 When you flag, the question gets in a review queue, if 5 people vote to close the question, the question is closed. Your flag is helpful because someone decided to vote on it. It's still open because not (yet) enough people voted.

1 hour later…
user92578
@AlexandreVaillancourt Ah, I see, thanks a lot, it's all much clearer now! I can only review first posts so I don't know about all that stuff.

@Tyyppi_77 No problem ;)

user92578
I believed that "helpful" meant "action taken" :)

8:42 PM
Thinking about selling my old PS3. It actually still goes for around ~$200. However it is the model that is backwards compatible with PS1/PS2. Not sure if I want to get rid of it.

8:53 PM
Hmm, the downvote tooltip on gamedev.net has escaped '<br/>' in it when not logged in CC @JoshPetrie

@KevinvanderVelden I think you should report it on meta with the tag 'bug'; I think SE staff are poked in these situations.

@AlexandreVaillancourt not gamedev.stackexchange.com, gamedev.net
Hence me pinging Josh who is also a mod on there =p

Sie
Ya, I was about to say, "I wasn't aware that SE owned gamedev.net".

@KevinvanderVelden Ah, right :)

9:42 PM
Good day

Sie
Hey.

Day? Hmmm, that thing is kind of almost done here.. :P

Sie
5:45 here.
PM

day as in, somewhere between 1 and 365/366 lol
Apple's rejected my desaturated blood screenshots, so I guess I'm gonna create a no-blood option now
and have enemies die in puffs of smoke
this way I can at least have a gameplay video again
might add a new enemy or weapon to go with the update, we'll see

Sie
Censorship is always fun to deal with.

9:50 PM
Yeah :(
On the other hand, forces you to be a little creative

Sie
Eh. I guess but it's making people be creative for the wrong reasons. I feel so anyway.

Yeah
But what can you do lol

@ChrisMcFarland In Commander Keen, enemies were 'stunned' once you shot them: mobygames.com/images/shots/l/…

I can't remember, but do they stay stunned then?
instead of dying

Sie
@ChrisMcFarland Does Apple ban blood/gore period or can you enable it (opt-in)?
@AlexandreVaillancourt Wha?

9:53 PM
@Sie I can have it my game all fine, it's just the screenshots and preview videos have to be 4+ family friendly

Sie
Well that isn't too terrible I guess.

@ChrisMcFarland Yup, they probably get removed once you leave the screen though, can't remember :P

Sie
Nothing a content filter on Apples end wouldn't solve though.

Yeah, but my blood is part of the selling point of the game lol

Sie
Not sure why they just don't have an age gate or filter of some sort.

9:54 PM
Indeed, I tried to appeal arguing that, but no luck

@Sie I'm talking about cartoon for adults :P

@AlexandreVaillancourt That's alright then. It's sort of like Pokemon, all the creatures get knocked out rather than dying (which is fitting since you can "revive" them anyway)

Sie
@AlexandreVaillancourt I know exactly what you're talking about but in the context of the conversation it made no sense to me.

@ChrisMcFarland Yeah; haven't played the game so I can't tell :)

9:56 PM
@Sie That thing was not invented 'for fun' or 'for the sake of it', the reason behind it was to evade a law in Japan that you could not show 'the real thing'.

I attribute my desire for blood in games coming down to playing Half-Life and Bungie's Myth games in the late 90s when I was in my early teens
not realistic blood, but enough to leave a nice splatter

Sie
@AlexandreVaillancourt Ya Japan has made a lot of odd things in part due to being sexually repressed.

Yeah, red pixels :P
@Sie Yup!

Sie
Didn't work out too well though. Instead they traded in typical desires for arguably worse ones.

lol
it really seems like a strange culture to me
that, and population declining cuz they don't wanna have kids generally

Sie
10:00 PM
They seem kind of closed in. I wonder if they face the same issues as royal families do.

user4704
10:39 PM
@KevinvanderVelden I can't really do anything about that. The site software sucks.

Sie
@JoshPetrie Feels like a lot of forums feel dated. I wish more forums had an approach similar to Reddit's.
I don't recall but I thought Reddit's design had a certain name.

user4704
I don't like Reddit's software much either, tbh.

user4704
But it's at least more functional.

Sie
I just really like how Reddit threads look and function. I loath having to go onto forums and dig through it. The comment chains and general look/feel of Reddit make sense to me.
I'm pretty sure Digg did it prior to Reddit though. I didn't really use Digg much when it was in it's prime though.

SE doesn't feel that dated tbh. Under the hood it might be, but it's not obvious.

Sie
10:49 PM
It doesn't at all to outsiders. It looks and operates great. It also has one of the most amazing mobile (non-app) websites I've seen in a long time.

"dated" isn't the word I'd use for reddit either, but it really sucks without RES
or at least it did...I haven't actually tried it without RES in years, lol

Sie
True. I still prefer RES's in-line media viewing compared to the native function Reddit itself tried to implement.
I'm pretty sure vanilla Reddit only has in-line media viewing for the post itself only anyway and not yet for comments. I may be mistaken though.

Hia

11:08 PM
Hello
I prefered Digg's UI over reddit's
but I ditched Digg when they turned stupid

Jon
Digg, lol
great example of corporate fucking over their client base

haha yeah

Jon
Seriously though, they knew they were fucking their users, or they were incredibly stupid
They just didn't care
either way, fuck Digg :)
just saw a screenshot of my old level select screen
revisions are a good thing :D
rev 1 of options

Jon
11:38 PM
I also have English/French/Italian translations

Jon
I want japanese/chinese/spanish
really badly

Jon
11:51 PM
I went to see the angry bird movie.. oh shit yeah Mick's song I gotta listen to that
@MickLH that is awesome. but its not GORB universe style music, come onnnn!
