A: Does demolition of terrorists' homes have any basis in Judaism?

hazorizyou question is caused by the modern left view that if a minority wants to hit us (i.e. through rooks that can kill) we should not shoot back, but we should try to appease them (may be not the throwers themselves but their community) (i am not saying that we should not love a minority, it is jus...

I don't see anything in this post that directly addresses the tactic in question.

@IsaacMoses how did i not answer "Is this kind of action OK, according to halacha + hashkafa?" i think i answered that almost anything is OK to save jewish live (land)

@hazoriz Your citations indicate that we are obligated to respond with military force to defend Jewish life and property. They do not seem to say anything about the menu of tactics or targets authorized for that military force. If there is something in one of the cited sources that does so but isn't currently quoted in this post, I encourage you to edit it in.
You seem to assert that it's forbidden to save a non-Jew's life on Shabbat, but as a matter of practical Halacha, it is not forbidden, but required.

@IsaacMoses i understood that any and all necessary (i suggested getting export advice as by sickness on shabos) tactics or targets are authorized, concerning non-Jew's life (see second answer) if no one will know the law is different also see myjewishlearning.com/beliefs/Issues/Jews_and_Non-Jews/…
Maimonides' assertion that whereas one who murders a Jew is subject to the death penalty, one who murders a non-Jew is not (Mishneh Torah, Laws of Murder 2:11). According to another leading commentator, indirectly causing the death of a non-Jew is no sin at all (Rabbi Yoel Sirkis, Bayit Hadash, commentary on Bet Yosef, Yoreh Deah 158).
"Gentiles are neither to be lifted [out of a well] nor hauled down [into it]" (Tractate Avodah Zarah, 26b). Maimonides writes: "As for Gentiles with whom we are not at war…their death must not be caused, but it is forbidden to save them if they are at the point of death; if, for example, one of them is seen falling into the sea, he should not be rescued, for it is written: 'neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy fellow'--but [a Gentile] is not thy fellow" (Mishneh Torah, Laws of Murder 4:11).
"their [the Turks and the blacks] nature is like the nature of mute animals, and according to my opinion they are not on the level of human beings" (Guide For the Perplexed, Book III, Chapter 51).
@IsaacMoses i brought the non-jew law only to show that if desecrating shabbos is permitted forsure destroying a non-jew's (live or) property is OK and by this i answered the question

@hazoriz So, would you say that it's obvious to you that if, say, a Jew needed a heart transplant, it would be permissible to grab a non-Jew from the street and cut his heart out for the purpose? That seems equivalent (in terms of your Halachic reasoning) to me, and it also seems very unlikely.

3:25 PM
how is it equivalent to when non-Jew's are trying to take land and murder jews?
i am not an expert in these laws, but probably if they (a jew, a jewish doctor and a goy) are stranded on a bought, that it will be permissible to save the jew by killing the goy

@hazoriz The question at hand is about destroying the property of people who were not (necessarily) involved in such hostilities.

@hazoriz unfortunately, israel is not on a boat and doing anything like you are proposing will lead directly to more jewish boys being stabbed at bus stops. frankly, i you probably have a din of rodef just for posting this unqualified on the internets.

@hazoriz Indeed. This is not the sort of statement that should be made in public by someone who isn't an expert.

3:52 PM
@IsaacMoses which is sometimes nessesserty to save jewish life

4:03 PM
@DoubleAA it seem to me that you are not an export, even to simple sifardim (not military exports) that lived in Muslim counties (i suggest you speak to a few) it is obvious what needs to be done for them to respect us and that being kind to the terrorist's family will only cause jewish boys being stabbed (lihavdil even to your kids you can not always be kind), even Americans can understand this i.e. the first comment on the question and Rabbi Meir Kahane,
@IsaacMoses i consider myself a student so please teach me

@hazoriz I am no expert. Read:
25
Q: Are you allowed to save a non-Jew's life on shabbos?

cookie monsterIs a Jew allowed to violate shabbos to save a non-Jew's life?

and the many sources quoted there.

@DoubleAA it is questinable who is the rodef, to me it seems that the reason that jewish boys are still being stabbed at bus stops is because politicians that people like you elect (they are representing people like you) are running the military

@hazoriz Here's the thing. If you say false, or even not-carefully-worded stuff that seems to indicate that Jews don't value the life of non-Jews, it puts Jews everywhere at risk. This has nothing to do with the army's duty one way or the other. You, here, should not say things like "it will be permissible to save the jew by killing the goy" unless you're absolutely sure that you know what you're talking about and that you have a good reason for saying it.

4:20 PM
@IsaacMoses the good reason is for jews to stand up and protect themselves

@hazoriz killing and violence are not always good ways to protect yourself. עת מלחמה ועת שלום. they're more of a last resort.

@DoubleAA ... and saying false stuff about killing is really not a good way.

@IsaacMoses even in the link you sent me one of the reasons we need to save them is for ourselves "to prevent the Gentiles from hating and persecuting us (מישום איבה)"

@hazoriz Yes. I'm glad that you're reading it.

@DoubleAA how from the pasuk do you see that "they're more of a last resort."

4:25 PM
@hazoriz I didn't prove it from that pasuk. It is still true. דברי חכמים בנחת נשמעים. לא מצא הקבה כלי מחזיק ברכה לישראל אלא השלום.
@hazoriz That's a pretty darn good Jewish reason

@IsaacMoses please explain to me what is false, why cant you privately kill a goy to save a jewish life?

@hazoriz There is no "privately" in the real world, and my point is that as far as your or my inexpert knowledge goes, that statement might as well be false, since it's unsupported. And it is one that I would be very happy to not have my non-Jewish neighbors reading and taking seriously.

@IsaacMoses "it puts Jews everywhere at risk." how is this not the satmar, natoray karta idea that israel needs to give up so that Jews everywhere will not be at risk, jews can never stand up for themselves they need to at all times appees the non jews

@hazoriz Tzahal's work is Jews standing up for themselves. Your unsupported rhetoric on the Internet is not.

4:43 PM
@IsaacMoses i think it makes people start to think, that there liberal ideas might cause danger to jewish life, it was biased on the idea that a jew can not actively kill a JEW to save his own life, it seems to me that the second JEW excludes non-jews, now i see from your link that maybe only if they are not ger-toshav.

@hazoriz Better to learn what Halacha actually says and raise awareness of that than to raise awareness of your personal opinions.

@IsaacMoses i see you "Founded mi.yodeya" thank you (it helped me a lot i hope it still will), i understand that you have the right to complain what goes here, BTW how can you publicly teach any torah?
@IsaacMoses any halocho that i learn will probably be my opinion (way of understanding it)

@hazoriz I appreciate your appreciation.
@hazoriz The better-grounded your view is in actual sources, the more likely that your teaching it to others is a worthwhile endeavor.

5:00 PM
Hello. I'm just dropping in to mention (so no one else gets blamed for it) that I deleted a few of the comments on the answer. All of them are here in this chat room, but since the bulk of the discussion is (properly) here, and I am concerned for the more-public main page, I took the path of caution.

@IsaacMoses is it ok if i ask on Yodeya "if a Jew needed a heart transplant to live, and we was stranded on a bought with a jewish doctor and a goy would it be permissible to forcibly cut the hart of the non-Jew to save the jews life, since it is not the case of killing a jew to save a jew."

@hazoriz I would prefer if you didn't. If you want there to be a Q&A about that point of theory, it'd probably be better to word it with very hypothetical, non-graphic language, to make it clear that it's a theoretical question and less likely to have choice phrases quoted out of context.

@IsaacMoses is this better "the rule that a jew can not actively kill a jew to save his own life, hypothetically will it also apply by killing a goy, (ger toshav, not idle worshiper, idle worshiper)"
