Q: Question about Sherock's the Empty Hearse plot (possible spoilers)

ChronosWhy keep Sherlock's fake death to John if 30 other people know about his fake death. Wouldn't you think if it is a secret, John would be the first person he could trust about the this secret. I don't understand the purpose of setting the "stage" just for John, if it is also for other onlookers; a...

Q: 2nd Question about Sherlock's Empty Hearse plot (possible spoilers)

ChronosWhy still make a fake death if Mycroft could manage to negotiate with the sniper and assassins, just pay a bunch of homeless to act as witnesses to Sherlock's death, it would make it easier for them than setting up a "stage". Did I miss anything?

Great, finally the SE package arrived and what's in it? A general SE shirt, although I chose a Movies.SE shirt. Well, at least it fits and I can order that size for the graduation swag (which has to contain a Movies.SE shirt, that's the best thing of the whole design), should it ever become available.

Q: A movie that ends with a woman in an angel costume burning a house?

MortonA friend saw when she was 7-8, a movie that, in the ending, a female character discover than his boyfriend is cheating her while she's attending a costume party. Then, dressed as an angel, burn down the house, and then a police officer rescue her from the fire and they drive away in a motorcycle....

4:30 PM
@NapoleonWilson You could have at least used an alt account. :P

@Catija Then it wouldn't be a joke, but simply a shitty idiot question. ;-)

Can you/we fix this: is apparently about the actor... which is dumb. If anything, it should be about the show and questions about the actor should be .

@Catija Questions about Jerry Seinfeld should probably not be tagged with any name tag at all (are there even ones?). Feel free to change the wiki for seinfeld to be about the show, though.

@NapoleonWilson Why not? We have questions about Spielberg... and other directors... why not Seinfeld?

@Catija Meh, don't like those, way too easily misused. But if you deem it necessary, well, go ahead and make one.

4:45 PM
@NapoleonWilson I just started going through your answer to the tagging question and was looking through films tagged "advertising". There are some that legitimately deserve the tag but they seem to be about commercials, which are somewhat off-topic.
For example, this question.

Q: Can someone explain the Acura "I sell cars, you sell you" ads?

thexacreI frequently watch a web series by Jerry Seinfeld called Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. I live outside the US (but in a western country) and I just don't get the Acura (called Honda here) ads at the start and end of every episode! They always feature a car salesman giving random advice while ...

@Catija It's not entirely clear if they're off-topic. What is clear is that their identification is.
@Catija Which in turn seems like a question that's not about Jerry Seinfeld at all.

@NapoleonWilson So, how would you tag that question if you don't want jerry-seinfeld (which isn't really important to the question in the first place, so I don't think it makes sense as a tag) and you kill advertising.

@Catija Oh, I didn't say kill advertizing at all, rather on the contrary. Did you really read that answer of mine?

@NapoleonWilson I did... but your definition of advertising does not fit this case: The former seems to be about advertising within the movie.
Advertising within the movie is product-placement and already has a tag.

Besides that, dialogue and plot-explanation might also work. But yeah, difficult case, like the whole "commercials on-topic" question afterall.
@Catija Sure, meh, who knows.

4:54 PM
Many of the questions tagged "advertising" are really about product-placement and don't need both tags... I think that is definitely worth cleaning up... I know we don't have "movie" and "TV" tags but it might be worth it to have a "commercial" tag, particularly if they're potentially off-topic.

@Catija Hmm, maybe.

@NapoleonWilson Is it worth asking a meta question about it?

@Catija Oh, I guess there will be many asked in the aftermath of the big question that's currently running. If you feel it's necessary, sure, go ahead! (But don't propose a commercial tag, that's bound to cause trouble, I'd rather just silence the commercial problem away and pretend those questions don't exist. ;-))

@NapoleonWilson bah. My issue is that I like the specificity of and find boring because it's generic and would have to be explained to death for it to be used correctly... if we can even decide what "correctly" is.

@Catija Sure, feel free to propose its removal then.

SlakeFistcrunchI've had a pension for obscure horror movies all my life, and through the advent of the internet I've been able to identify nearly every one of them that was lost in my childhood--from "The Children [of Ravensbeck]" to "Monster in the Closet". @NapoleonWilson Hell, just to rattle your cage, I'll make it almost tolerable. :P
(Hey, you started!)

7:12 PM
@NapoleonWilson You still around? I'm about to post my question but I'm not sure if I should answer it with my recommendation (which still asks questions) or include my recommendations in the question and see what people think.

7:22 PM
@Catija Hmm, hard to say. An answer makes it more votable. It probably depends how much it asks pressing further questions or how much it is really more or less an independent and nearly working solution without further discussion. I'd maybe reserve a self-answer for a completely thought-out and self-contained solution without any big further questions. But that's just me, judge on your own.

@NapoleonWilson Yeah, I think you're right. The commercial thing is the big sticking point for me. The other questions seem pretty clear-cut but, of the 15 questions, 3 are about commercials specifically, and I'm not sure what to do with them.
Also, the 2012 consensus is that commercials are on-topic.

Q: How to address the "Advertising" tag?
