Q: What are light meters needed for in digital movies?

Crow T RobotI know when shooting on film, a light meter is used to determine the amount of exposure time for the film to get the right colours. It also mentions they're used to to determine the optimum light level for a scene on Wikipedia, however I'm not quite clear on why this would be required on digital ...

Q: On Amazing Race, do the teams know in advance what the penalty will be for giving up on a task?

Kate GregoryOn both Amazing Race and Amazing Race Canada, I've seen teams given time penalties for not finishing a roadblock. @ChristianRau Unfortunately yeah, I could find a valid reason to close it in the on/off topic help center or on the meta. I was thinking about making a meta post about it but it'd probably get the same attention if I just discussed it with you :P

4:01 PM
@MrLore Well, that's why I didn't dare to close-vote it either (and am also not in the mood to start a meta discussion on it for now). Yet the question (and the fearfully anticipated window it might open) is still a major concern for my peace of mind, and the newly created tag doesn't help to soothe it.

Yeah it could certainly be used badly, but I think if we could come up with some sort of metric for what qualified as a web series it could be all we need

WUT? Damn, I forgot to go to the elections! Crap, I shouldn't have "wasted" my sunday afternoon watching movies.

Which election is that?

@MrLore State parliament. Well, I guess they will have to settle it on their own without my wise opinion.

Ahh right

As for the web series, I was (am?) rather in favour of it when it came up earlier. But I didn't really consider the danger of ID-crap.

Sonny BurnettVeera, the protagonist of the Tamil movie Raavanan, used to repeat a specific phrase throughout the movie, which was one of the few things not translated in the dubbed version I watched. Q: Is there any importance to returning video tapes?

thinly veiled question markAs far as I can tell, nearly any time Bateman tries to make an excuse, for example, when in the bathroom with his coworker, when breaking up with Evelyn, and when speaking with Detective Kimball, he uses the phrase "I have to return some video tapes." Is there any importance to this line? Is it ...
