I guess I won't make one.

ha-haaaaa, beat you to it.

So yeah...something deeply unsatisfying about the fact that they didn't just leave the ending as both the Doctor and Clara walking away unhappy and deeply broken.

It was perfect.
The Master/Missy won, and if they'd walked away from each other then her success would have been absolute.

I really hope that Christmas is her last event. Even better, maybe Santa was talking about the Master?

@waxeagle This, I can get on board with.
wait.

4:21 AM
also, thoughts, was Missy killed or merely teleported? Also Where is her TARDIS?

Robots. The Master and the Doctor as antagonistic friends.
I do not dare hope for Shalka Master.

room topic changed to Spoilers Who: A room for discussing Doctor Who. SPOILERS roam freely here. [spoilers] [time-lords]

I just hugged an Osgood cosplayer. It will be that sort of day. @LIDoctorWhoCon
...You know, I might've actually been okay with the reveal that Clara was the Doctor being done seriously. Like, all Watcher-style.

@BESW I was seriously hoping it was for real.

4:27 AM
And then having succeeded at supervising his regeneration, she melds into Capaldi and is gone forever!

There was enough possible nutso stuff about this season that it wouldn't have been out of place

Ooh, there's a Skin Horse strip... can I dig it up?

I will not be here to stop you :) Off to bed, catch you on the flip side.

ttfn

also suggestions for an alternate clever room name would be welcome
(current thoughts are: The TARDIS's quiet room)

4:33 AM
Most of the really good names are already podcasts.

we can still use those
i'd just like to allude to this being the spoiler room

a rhyming quip about this being the spoiler room might get missed

"Spoilers, Sweetie!"?
2

@BESW is the last line the operational thing here? ;)

4:36 AM
@doppelgreener Partly. But also, I think the second panel is very much the relationship between Clara and Twelve, and it might've been interesting to see them take it literally.

@BESW that's a clear option I considered, but I dunno about you, I've had enough River Song to last me a lifetime

Ditto.
Time And Relative Dimensions In Spoilers?
2

@BESW ha, that's it
room topic changed to Time And Relative Dimensions In Spoilers: A room for discussing Doctor Who. SPOILERS roam freely here. [spoilers] [time-lords]

@doppelgreener See, there is precedence for "emanations" of the Doctor to take physical form and interact with him. The Valeyard may be a rogue Watcher.
If Clara had been some kind of super-coherent Watcher, perhaps orchestrated by Gallifrey, that might've been a useful tool for tying her story arc together.

@BESW plus with potential for existential identity crises

4:41 AM
@doppelgreener Given the Doctor's "Am I a good man?" theme this season, having her turn out to be his conscience could be... interesting for him.

anyone want to be added to the room owner list?
i've already added BESW, so there's 2, though we're both in the same time zone on similar sleeping schedules

@BESW rassilon is not welcome here though, i hear he is a bit of a jerk

By this point it's just a naming convention.
The Foyer of Rassilon, the Sugar Tongs of Rassilon, the Secret Handshake of Rassilon...

for realsy? is this a show thing?

I'm only slightly exaggerating.
Things named for Rassilon in the Doctor Who franchise:
The Rassilon Imprimatur
The Sash of Rassilon
The Crown of Rassilon
The Key of Rassilon
The *Great* Key of Rassilon (totally different from the Key of Rassilon)
The Rod of Rassilon
The Seal of Rassilon
The Coronet of Rassilon
The Harp of Rassilon
The Ring of Rassilon
The Black Scrolls of Rassilon
The Tomb (or Tower) of Rassilon
The Game of Rassilon
The Record of Rassilon
Rassilon's Final Solution
Oh, and in the expanded universe there's things like The Cult of the Vampire Rassilon.

@BESW I'm disappointed there is not actually a Sugar Tongs of Rassilon
Rassilon had rather a lot of important things

5:19 AM
Well, a lot of them are just named for him; he had nothing to do with them personally.

4 hours later…
9:09 AM
i am so tired and drained today of Rassilon
i have no idea why

10:05 AM
@doppelgreener Did you have a Bad Day of Rassilon?

my day was fine actually; it was pretty relaxing
other than the minor amounts of stress in the afternoon which i worked to remove
i was running batches of tests and diagnosing various little problems in them, and they all need to be tested and verified as working by the end of Thursday.
but i can only do this job as fast as the test software will let me, and the testing software is very slow, and the virtual machine it is running on is slow, and the website being tested is slow.

Ahah! The Logjam of Omega!

so I am not sure I will get all that done, but it will not be my fault.
(and my manager and my manager's manager both know about the slowness situation, and I will take steps to make sure they understand what's going on here, so hopefully they will get a second person checking these tests too.)
but yeah overall just a slightly weird day but not a bad one
people putting pressure on me to absolutely get my job done ASAP, after putting me on a machine that cannot do the job quickly; a (thankfully not wholly representative) day in the life of a consultant

Aw.

Do Sherlock and Doctor Who Really Have a “Bad Fan” Problem? | Vanity Fair http://www.vanityfair.com/vf-hollywood/2014/11/sherlock-doctor-who-steven-moffat-hate-his-fans THE PROPHECY BEGINS

Love and Monsters is also considered a pretty classic case of Fan Mockery--though there are some who think it's a loving tribute.
Oh, and the Classic Who "Greatest Show in the Galaxy" is commonly interpreted as an allegory for the show, and its fan stand-in also gets brutally murdered.
So... yeah, Moffat probably has some trouble with abusing his fan avatars, but it's not exactly new. Buffy's fan avatars were mocked so hard they turned into straight-up villains, one of whom murdered a main cast member and got killed by magical flaying!

12:53 PM
well there's also the bit where this author appears fairly happy with the finale and such
so i don't think i'd see eye to eye with them on much re: doctor who

The aggravating thing about Moffat is that he has awesome ideas and a high competency record in specific skill sets.
But he keep fluffing it up with the same tics over and over.
I mean, I can appreciate Terror of the Vervoids because it sucks in amazingly creative ways! But I'm getting bored by Moffat's fluffs when I should be entertained by his ideas.

1:15 PM
i like his ideas too, i would just like them more if he wasn't the one writing the scripts.

Or, yanno, have an aggressive script editor who isn't him.

yeah or that
like that george lucas guy needed

to be fair, killing a character the fans identify with is a cheap way to make a villain extra villianous

Yes. Yes, it is. (Whedon, I'm looking at you.)
