It's not a big deal, but I just wanted to let whoever responded that I didn't see the answer, so I won't be able to reply.

@Glen_b, that's a good point. I'm not sure how best to amend the answer, though. I suspect that is beyond the OPs reach & it would make the basic ideas harder to grasp.

@gung If that comment is related to my (now deleted) comment on the correlation test vs CI, I was mistaken ... because in the case of the correlation test the sample r (rather than the null hypothesis value r0) is still used in the the denominator for the hypothesis test (making it different from the proportion test case) -- hence I think it should correspond to the CI.

If you meant to refer to something else you'll need to jog my memory.

Yeah, it was. There are different ways of testing correlations & of making CIs, however. It strikes me as perfectly reasonable that they might not quite correspond.

At this point, I'd leave the comment deleted and not bother to point out that more generally they may differ. So I suggest you do nothing and leave the concise answer just as it is, unless someone else raises it. There's a benefit to a concise answer that a more comprehensive one may lose (for little gain in this case).

That was my thinking.

If they didn't actually correspond, there'd be some value in at least a mention in passing (for which the comment would have sufficed I think), but as it stands it would be an unnecessary distraction.
