Did some thinking about what I believe is the biggest issue with the current implementation of shredding XML using the XML variable. Ended up as a suggestion to Microsoft. Would be thrilled to hear if you have any thoughts or opinions on the matter. Or perhaps just honor it with a vote, up or down.

@a_horse_with_no_name You are right. The very first post (21:50) had an extra set of parentheses in each query. Edit 2 (21:59) by the OP removed them. That's why I retracted your yesterday's edit. Still, it's a bit of a mess because if we reinstate the very first post, we invalidate the accepted answer. If we keep the current version, the other answer looks wrong while it was answering the very first version. — ypercubeᵀᴹ 40 secs ago
A tough case. Perhaps a mod should look into this.
I've edited the (downvoted) answer to show what exactly it was answering. I'll let mods take any other appropriate step. — ypercubeᵀᴹ 13 secs ago

@ypercubeᵀᴹ I wonder if that was meant as a reply to my comment. They didn't address the question about why the first query's syntax wasn't corrected, though, so perhaps not.

@AndriyM Anyway, I did what I thought was ok, considering that the question has an accepted answer.

There happen sometimes edit wars in the SE network. I think in this case we had some kind of edit anarchy :)

@AndriyM And I found the source of the confusion:
Thanks, I deleted the redundant brackets. This will be more clear. — shraple yesterday
The OP read the first answer (the later downvoted) and removed the "redundant brackets" ...
but did not remove the VALUES keyword.
