Q: Risk Factor Definition: Too Story Based

Tim BWe're going to look at merging the "Too Individual" and "Too plot based" close reasons into "Too Story Based". Keeping in mind the discussions from Risk Factor definition: Too Individual/Character Based and Are Too Character Based and Too Plot Based the same? here is the proposed close reason. C...

I'm thinking of writing a Meta question, but idk if I'm over-reacting.
I've recently posted an answer on http://worldbuilding.stackexchange.com/questions/36731/would-gorillas-with-human-level-intelligence-make-effective-soldiers/36733#36733

Judging by the many, many comments I received a lot of people did not generally agree with my opinion, which is fine. This was not a [tag:hard-science] question, and my answer was not meant to pass academic review - it was just a science fiction type question.
I logged in today to find that a pretty interesting edit had been approved:
What I find worrying however, is that two of our users with a decent amount of rep approved that invasive edit.
Is writing a meta question asking to inform people about this over-reacting, or should a mod maybe talk to these people and help them figure out what this site is about?
What's the best approach here ?
@TimB - Could you let me know what you think of the above, please

@AndreiROM I have to go now; I'll take a look later.

Well you're right, the only way an edit like that is good is if it's editing in information you've left in a comment.
@Hohmannfan is active in this chat so probably easiest is just to ask him about it and see what he says :)

What I saw when I approved the edit: 1. There was a rather lengthy discussion in the comments, also featuring the possible psychological differences. 2. The edit briefly mentioned that, together with a possible source. (Although I did not check it). 3. Although it added a completely new paragraph, it was still a minor part of the answer.
It may not have been a great edit, and was, as you say, quite invasive, but I thought it was better to let it pass than disposing it.
If I have showed poor judgement in this case, please point me to a better policy of handling invasive edits.
Now, I realize that this may have been better as a comment, not an edit, but I can not think of a simple way of transforming it. I realize a part of the problem here is the misleading appearance of "AndreiROM said that" (although that can be disproved in the edit history).
And yes, I agree with you, @AndreiROM, I may have missed some important points of "what this site is about", as I am pretty new to SE. To tell me what I am doing wrong will certainty help me to avoid future mistakes.
@Hohmannfan sends an apology to @AndreiROM

@Hohmannfan no hard feelings whatsoever. Just wanted to raise awareness, or figure out if i'm wrong

Is it just me, or is the Wikipedia fund riser pretty intense now?

@AndreiROM Here are some random thoughts.
1) If I was reviewing this, I probably would have skipped it, maybe dropping the author a note about it in chat.
2) I don't like the addition of "I have to say it; has no one made the pun about guerilla warfare yet?" because it's someone else saying this, not you. It's also irrelevant, but the point here is that it's putting someone else's spin on another person's work, which I don't like.
3) I also don't think that the reference to the Uplift series was appropriate in an edit; you hadn't brought it up, it seems. Again, it's someone else's take on the topic.
4) So that's about 40% the ideas of someone else in that edit. Minor ones, but not negligible, IMHO.
That would have been enough for me to skip it, because the final decision lies with the author, or reject it, unless that rejection would have been unilateral. Either way, I do think that it was the wrong move to approve.
It's not anywhere near some of the worst approved edits I've seen. I've seen reviewers - especially robo-reviewers - approve absolute crap in the past. This was not a terrible edit. It didn't intentionally try to hurt the post, as far as I can see. So I hope the reviewers who approved it don't take my points too harshly. It wasn't a stupid or careless move, in my opinion - just not the best one.
Also, I think the warning of "Our system has identified this edit as possible spam; please review carefully" came from the Abyss Where Weird Review Queue Warnings Come From. Maybe the reference to the series triggered it; I don't know. Seems like a fluke, though.
@Shalvenay Indeed. With ketchup.
@Hohmannfan I've managed to avoid it lately, which is odd.
