Q: Ore spawning randomly underground when mined

SysDragonIs it possible (with a plugin, command or whatever) to create new ores randomly, doesn't matter if manual or automatically. I have a multiplayer server and I want the members to have always ores without need to expand too much (I have WorldBorder to prevent too big sized world). I don't want the...

which version of minecraft are you using? The only solution i know of is for 1.6.4

I'm using 1.7.9
I already edited the question to reword the sentences. I don't think should be off-topic now.

this is still asking for a recommendation, to change this you would need to change to something like "Is it possible to regenerate Ore spawning in minecraft

@Flaunting Done

Just as a side note you won't find anything to regen ores in random places, as all solutions use the world seed which chooses where the ores go

Thanks for the encouragement.

hey man
thought it would be easier to talk through your options here
@SysDragon

do I have any options?

yeah but none "Perfect"
I used to do something similar with my server

manually going underground and spreading some ores is not an option
what do you use?

The two problems you have is that ores will always be in the same place if you want to do it in your world, and by regenerating the world you lose and structures someone might of built underground
if you want to set areas as "mine only Regions" you can use this dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/autoregain_tsow

7:20 AM
I don't want ores to regenerate in the same places, because then user will "farm" them

lets you rollback a region specified by you at intervals
well your only option is manual then if you want it in the same world, as i said the seed decides ore gen

should be out there a plugin to create random ores underground in a typical density

My solution was to create a mining world

if there is not, maybe I should do a plugin like that, it should be easy

There isn't a solution as the minecraft seed wins

think about it: you select an area (coordinates or WorldEdit) underground and use a command to spawn some ores
the plugin will spawn some ores in a random disposition in the typical density for each ore

yeah sounds easy but you then have to find a way to bypass the seed or randomise it

bypass the seed? no
this will be done while playing
the same as if I go and put an ore

yes but world gen is dictated by the world seed.

I don't get what you mean
first world is generated with its ores

i mean that if you create something to randomly place ores. you will end up with floating ores in caves etc. or unmatching terrain

7:26 AM
then, while playing, I use this hypothetical plugin with an area and it will replace some blocks with ores

the world is constantly generated by seed whenever a new chunk is created

it will replace blocks except air
it will put ores in stone and dirt, for example

This command will regenerate the area within your selection to its state when the world was freshly generated. It will use your world's seed so regenerating multiple times will always generate the same terrain.
sorry quote

I don't want that, because ores will be in same places

7:29 AM
yes, I know how to use WorldEdit

that has a replace function that you could work from but you will need to make it randomised
thats for the regions options
Complex patterns
It is possible to paste more complex patterns of blocks than just a single block. For example, you can set an area to a percentage of various different blocks.

Example: Setting Percentages in the area
//set 25%stone,50%ironore,25%coalore
Remember to include the , or it wont work.

Note that if you plan to fill an area, //replace and especially //fill work better (to be explained).

The percentage syntax described here is only one of many other supported ones. See the block patterns page for examples of other complex patterns available to you.
so this would work
you set the region and then do 75% stone 10% coal 7.5% iron 2.5% Gold etc.

as I said, I know that about WorldEdit

what is wrong with that as a solution then

that does not solve my problem, but the plugin I want shouldn't be too hard

can you explain why that doesnt solve the issue

7:34 AM
I don't want to replace everything in the area, obviously!!
only placing some ores
and it should replace air
and it should take into account the deepness to the density of ores
and a lot of more things
(*it shouldn't replace air)

you can get world edit to do that

I don't think so

would take some prep. but you can just set diff regions for the various levels
then use the replace command with the percentages that way you can specify which blocks to replace.
