Q: I was wondering what a good way to introduce a character

CaroleI am writing a small story and I have part of the introduction done but I do not know a way to introduce this character There I was looking at my future. If I went through that door my whole life could change, but if i didn't i would be here with people who didn't understand me. That is what...

And done. Novel number three is finished.
It's tight because apparently Scrivener counts words differently. I had to scramble and write another hundred words to get it to validate. I have my count at 50,103.

@KitFox You must be glad it's over again :D
@KitFox the ending's so sad

@MattЭллен Innit, though?

so you're going to edit this one into shape?

I figured I could use the practice, if nothing else.
I have a short story to write for a contest first though.
Did I tell you about that? You might be interested in entering.

@KitFox I don't have any ideas at the moment.
@KitFox it's a really good one, so definitely worth the effort
@KitFox what's the subject?

This is a theme one: toys in the attic. Horror story involving a child's plaything, and a setting in some sort of "attic".

I'm looking for the link, but you can probably google it faster. It's Toasted Cheese, Dead of Winter 2014.

I look forward to reading yours
@KitFox I vaguely remember hearing about it. did you mention it before?

I might have. I had three horror assignments this quarter.
The first was Marionette, for the Nose.
Then the NaNo novel, which turned out not too horrific.
Then this contest.
I think I might have talked about that back in October.

do you like how your nano turned out?

Eh.
It's better than the first two.
I'm breaking it into scenes in Scrivener right now.
I can see some places that need things added or changed, maybe a scene or two to fill things out.
It evolved during the writing process, but less so than the others did.

Did you have a better idea of what you were going to write than the last two?

Q: Can one feasibly sell an adult-content screenplay?

MuddyWriterGirlSo I may have a few fairly high-quality very-adult screenplays lying around and I was just wondering if there was any hope of my profitting off them in some way? Does anyone have any experience with this?

@MattЭллен I think it really helped to set the daily writing target and try to stick to that regardless of how much I'd done already.
It forced me to stretch out scenes.
Also I had more of an outline than I had with the others.
The others had about the same amount of idea, but less planning.
So I floundered more at the halfway point.

I couldn't tell. you managed to keep it together regardless
> So I may have a few fairly high-quality very-adult screenplays lying around

Sorry, I meant I floundered more with the others.

rofl
@KitFox oh! that makes sense

I can't imagine.
I wrote some really long scenes this time around. It made a huge difference.
So far, my longest is almost 4K.
I was lucky to write a thousand-word scene in prior years.
There. Broken into scenes and awaiting my fist of doom.
Only 27 scenes. I'm kind of surprised. I estimated about 60, but I was basing that on prior years when my scene lengths were 500-1000 words.
I think my next step is to arrange it into beginning, middle, and end. It's kind of hodgepodge right now, not that anyone else can tell except me.

9:24 PM
@KitFox good luck!

thx
You'll read my drafts, right?
Right?

it's kinda fun to keep all the storylines right as I'm reading along :D
@KitFox yes!

It was pretty fun to write it that way.

I'm gonna watch some bojack horseman before bed.

Great idea. I'm going to play the hell out of Minecraft.
