Today is writing day.

Oh, it is, isn't it?

Yes. Other than the things I described in the email to you, I am very disturbed by some related things in my country these few days. I just keep thinking of these things over and over again.
One day, I will have to do something about all these things, or make the decision not to think about them again. However, that day is yet to come, for various reasons.

Good day

Q: What should we do with the Kirkus question?

Monica CellioWe have an old question about the usefulness of getting reviews from Kirkus. Many of the answers are personal-experience testimonials about the poor quality of this service. They are mostly all saying the same things. These are being posted by new users, so protecting the question will fend of...

Q: Dealing with Extreme Distances - Space Travel

blackboxbeingI know, you can go the Star Wars/Star Trek "hand wave" route and make it seem like everything is a few minutes or hours away, but... How do I implement a scenario where space travel is as common and casual as modern travel methods but won't distract me with its often bendy or non-existent rule-s...

I think Kit has left this chat, so I will leave this chat too.

We come here every Tuesday to write a 10 mins story on any proposed topic.

10 mins - does it mean it should take no more than 10 minutes to read it?

user116848
No, no. It means we have to write it in 10 mins.

8:42 PM
No way.

user116848
Haha. It has to be a short story you know.

user116848
It can be crappy too :-)

Is it announced suddenly and you have to come up with a story within 10 minutes?

user116848
Yeah, usually. But we all time ourselves so no one is looking ;-)

user116848

Last Fig

My candle smolders, wet with snows;
It will not last the night;
And oh, my friends, and ah, my foes—
It gives a dismal light.

(At least it is half as good as Edna St. Vincent Millay's "First Fig" (http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poetrymagazine/poem/3298#poem), assuming the appropriate scale of "poetic goodness". [The appropriate dullness of the regular iambic meter in the first line — contrasting the ˘´ ˘´ ˘´´ meter in "First Fig" — was accidental; I had intended a closer copying.])

(I guess the chat formatting does not like the use of non-breaking spaces to indent lines. The second and fourth lines should be indented three spaces.)
