f1rst p0st!!

wow
I need google accounts or google-linked email addresses of contributors
@Sparr (do you get pings from a room you've never been in?)

@MartinBüttner chjfau@gmail.com if that helps :P
btw that thing above isn't me being a noob, it's this
why hello there, @VisualMelon

@VisualMelon I knew you'd be interesting in this :D

what are these accusations ?!

uh, so the slogan?
I'll use Blah blah blah! Lorem ipsum dolor sit pie. for now

8:08 PM
What a marbelous idea!
/clear

Are byte sized values really useful or is that just an unnecessary BF homage?

@MartinBüttner what can't be a literal can't be a value

@cjfaure good point
thanks

anybody else hate having to put this at the top of stylesheets? :/
body, html {
	height: 100%;
	margin: 0px;
}

I forgo stylesheets, and write my html in such a way that the default layout just works
:P

8:19 PM
can i see some of your work? :P

actually, you can
goldilocksride.com

Hm, looks like he broke it...
xD
Yup, he put pictures in my sliders. Nice.
@NathanMerrill that...is nice...:DD
btw i had to make that above site in 3 days so everything except the first panel was rushed, i have a simpler design up on my vps but i'm too lazy to turn apache on :P
who else thinks border sizes should take percentages? :/

...percentage of what?
if I do 5% border on a 200px div, does it make the div 210px?

border is part of the width

no it isn't

8:28 PM
I thought, so it would 5% 'inside' ?

that is outline

oh, ok, I've never got the hang of the box-model

outline is within

... never heard of outline :P

what happens on this marble board

8:28 PM
@VisualMelon it is if you box-sizing: border-box;

wait
.. .. 01 .. ..
.. /\ /\ /\ ..
madness?

@MartinBüttner i think, nothing :P

why not?

@MartinBüttner doesn't 01 stand on `/`?

those are splitters

8:41 PM
ah
eh?

(better mnemonic than A)

so, cloners :/

basically I think this will produce powers of 2 modulo 256 in the first and fifth column

@MartinBüttner sounds logical enough :P

(and to me, that is pretty awesome :D)

8:48 PM
...I've been trying to follow the conversation about this language for the past couple of hours, and I still don't get it
...what are the basic rules?

Hm. I'm struggling to get the site to look goodish

I'm putting the basic concepts in a draft spec
let me make that public

;_;
I was gonna put a nice big nav under "Marbelous" there, but, i'm not happy with it

it's good enough like that
tells you all that's necessary
I'll grant people write access if I get their google IDs

Ok. questions
...what is the turn order?
fall 1 action 1?

8:55 PM
hmmm, yeah probably
maybe Fall-Addition-Action
The thing is that some actions should take one time step
like the splitter

I would have the branches let stuff that doesn't compare fall through
takes up less space

@VisualMelon that works too

and are the actions synchronized (like the game of life?)

@NathanMerrill well yes
everything evolves in lockstep

8:57 PM
so, the marble is on top of the middle cloner

you mean my earlier example?

yes
then the action phase happens

placing it on top of the other cloners
then the marbles fall
and no more clones

hm no
I think the cloning should replace one falling step
which is what I meant by "some actions should take one time step"

8:58 PM
ok...does cloning happen when the marble is directly above or directly on the cloner?

on
marbles only interact with the cell they are on

the interaction happens on the same time that they move on, right?

so, if the cloner doesn't place the marbles at the end of the action phase...
when does it place the marbles?

like,

.. 08
.. /\

08 /\ 08
