I watched an episode of Game of Thrones with George earlier today. I found myself getting frustrated with him, to the point that I thought that he was teaching me something.

I am about ready to strangle George, because he just doesn't get it. But I am losing credibility, because I have upon occasion stuck my foot in my mouth.

He loves Game of Thrones.

So much so that I want to take this as a jumping place to teach him to think differently and perhaps even... read.

But that's neither here nor there.

I want to convince him that he would be better served by spending $40 a month on Internet than what he is doing now.

He is spending $60 a month for a smart phone data plan.

Plus he has a lifeline (supercheap) cell phone.

It is his kindness that causes me to like him.

It is not his conversational skill.

So we have kind of fallen into a pattern.

I call him and invite him down, usually for dinner.

More often than not, I have something to teach him.

So I teach him something about food preparation, and then we watch Game of Thrones.

About which I also teach him something.

He has said that he appreciates my willingness to teach him, but he has also suggested otherwise nonverbally.

I did beans this weekend - two types.

Black beans are lovely soaked overnight in saltwater (per ATK), and then pressure cooked for 10 minutes. Pinto beans were pretty mushy treated the same way.

I am looking forward to St. Patrick's Day this year.

I know that corned beef has not a damn thing to do with St. Patrick's Day, but corned beef and cabbage is traditional here.
