2:50 PM
Sure is quiet today.

3:06 PM
No Tall (he may have popped in), no Jojo (I went to bed early), and no Stephie. That does make for a quiet shift.

3:16 PM
@Jolenealaska Very quiet. Are you doing okay?

Yes, just doing other things. Thanks for asking!

I got distracted and wasted the morning listening to music that I love from years ago.
One of my all time faves!

4:00 PM
hey, dumb question, I'm looking at a recipe for lamb rack and it says "divide the lamb rack into two 4-rib pieces" - they mean two times like this, right?

How many ribs does your rack have?

Huy
I don't know, I haven't bought it yet
I just know that lamb rack is on sale in the supermarket this week so I was gonna try it out

I think the implication is that your full rack should have 8 ribs, so you cut it in half to get two - four-rib halves.

Huy
ok
so like in the picture
when I google, most racks have around 7-8 ribs

Yeah, I saw an image with 9... so if you want them to cook evenly, you should probably see if you can find one with 8... but it probably won't matter too much.

Huy
why .01

Well, a first class ticket runs $15,000.
It's an idiom, "How the other half lives."
I just narrowed it a bit.

Huy
ok
pretty sure anyone could buy one of those at some point, just not gonna be worth it for most ppl

2 hours later…
Jay
5:58 PM
@Huy anyone? i think you have a skewed perspective on the world

Huy
anyone was a bit exaggerated
just as 0.01% would be, imo

Jay
0.01% sounds about right for people who can regularly afford to shell out $15k for a flight

Huy
ok

Jay
idk, i guess we would need more accurate data to tell
but it doesnt sound too off to me

Huy
yes, for ppl who can regularly afford to shell out so much
but do only those people buy that stuff?

Jay
6:01 PM
current world population is 7.125 billion

Huy
I mean a lot of people can't really afford a BMW or an iPhone or something like that and still do
so I don't think the measure should be "people who can regularly afford to shell out so much"

Jay
712,500 sounds reasonable

Huy
lol

Jay
why lol?

Huy
new york has a population of around 8.5 millions and around 5% of them are millionaires according to the web
that's already >400k

Jay
6:05 PM
lol
ok fine

Huy
why lol?

Jay
maybe im underestimating how many rich people there are

Huy
Zurich has a population of around 380k and ~30% of them are millionaires
so that's another 100k
alone in China there are apparently a million millionaires

6:31 PM
@Jay one-way
A millionnaire can just be moderately rich, like my dad. He wouldn't stay a millionaire for long if he spent money like $15000 for a one-way ticket to Europe.

6:46 PM
The business class is pretty nice too. I'd have to be on a plane that doesn't have the private room 1st class service, or I'd be green with envy.
By the way, if you're blue, you can read removed lines :)
It may not be easy being green, but being blue has its benefits. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

7:04 PM
@Jolenealaska: I know, I just didn't want to keep discussing so I removed the messages

OK
This looks fun, I want to try it:

A: Blown sugar globe with smoke enclosed inside - is it a plausible candy to make?

JolenealaskaAlmost exactly what you describe can be done, it’s shown in this video. The sugar isn’t hot blown, it’s isomalt, a lower calorie sugar substitute used in lower calorie candies and by foodies because it is formable into interesting shapes, like your sphere. In order to make your spheres by this...

My birthday is coming up, maybe I'll ask for the kit.
There's a whole bunch of molecular gastronomy stuff I'd like to try.

7:59 PM
Oooh, half price pizza today from Papa John's! I have to drive right by one anyway. $12 to feed me for 3 days! WooHoo! (Papa John's isn't great, but it's not bad)
