6:21 AM
What number'd 'ja dial?
Operator... operator... hello?

2 hours later…
8:00 AM
o/

o/

Hi hon

what's shaking?

I have to be up in 6 hours in order to make some money, so I was just headed for bed. I hope you're here in the morning!

only one way to find out

8:08 AM
:)
Goodnight all.

Night jojo!

8:26 AM
@ElendilTheTall trying to solve some serious scheduling issues. Current agenda is more than full.

@Stephie oh?

Trying to fit a sports tournament, a class bbq and a birthday celebration into one weekend. Including the usual bring X for potluck and help staffing the sports thingy.
And did I mention that son is temporarily vegetarian...? Hello bbq!

yes, you did
truly you have failed as a parent
;)

<shrugs>
Better veggie that other drugs.
Have to run, else son and his class mate (yeah, we are having a guest today, just as a garnish...) will have to be content with a bag of crisps and a coke for lunch. Back in a while ;-)

9:12 AM
aaaaand back.
So how much of of a turmoil is the current political situation in GB really? Like in everyday life, @ElendilTheTall.
More like "The end of the world (as we know it) is near!" or more like "Britain has survived worse - stiff upper lip!"?
Keep calm and carry on!

9:31 AM
@Stephie haven't noticed a single difference
just more people moaning

Very British, then.

yup
we all have jobs to go to while the politicians play their games

Lol!

the French would have revolted by now
or gone on strike

How would the French governement notice? They are on strike most of the time, even now during the Euro...

9:42 AM
indeed

And the Brits need not revolt, their politicians are stepping down by themselves. Saves a lot of trouble.

you'd have to halt all wine production for them to sit up and take notice
yeah, but not all of them

It's a start...
Speaking of revolutions:
Minor 1 started with simple past - and irregular verbs.
My slightly sadistic inner self does pop-quizzes now and then. All disguised as "you have to know these by heart".
Now I am testing where his "revolution threshold" is ^_^

10:01 AM
It's getting tough. So far hubby & I spoke English in those need to discuss it now but the kids can't know about it situations. Now they start to catch at least a few keywords and sometimes minor 1 gets the gist. Dang, have to dust off my French, I fear.

10:12 AM
Welsh
or Navajo
they used Navajo for secure communications in WW2

Considering how little French I remember... Will ask hubby about his preferences.

10:30 AM
@Stephie have you been watching the Euros? great way to get to sleep

Last night? Yes.... The second half was booooooring, I gave up before the <what's the term for the extra 30 minutes?>.
Portugal in the semi finals without one regular win? 'nuff said.

the whole tournament has been dull as ditchwater

The England - Iceland one at least had some enthusiasm and "heart".

everyone's been so cagey they can only sneak goals in right at the end when they're all tired
Don't get me started on that match
England were abysmal
but then, why expect anything else? They are a second rate team
besides, I don't have them in the office sweepstake, so who cares :D

But yes, the spectators didn't get many goals for their ticket price on average.

10:37 AM
Germany look good
I do have them in the sweepstake
C'mon Deutschland!

Well, we're playing Italy...
Gotta go...

bye o/

2 hours later…
12:48 PM
@Stephie boo

Aaaaaaargghhhhh
<runs>

<takes three steps, overtakes @Stephie>

<stops, watches @ElendilTheTall speed ahead>
<dust settles neat the horizon>

<Stephie finds Tall asleep>

And: "Boo!"

12:56 PM
<Tall rolls over with a grunt>

<shrugs, wanders off in search of mushrooms or berries>

I am fairly sure I found some Psilocybes the other day
just in the little patch of trees I walk through to the train station
let me see if I can find the picture I took, you might be able to confirm or refute

Oh. Trying to "escape" or considering a second business model?

just making my way home :P
you know me, my body is a temple
there were dozens of them

Ugh. One of those "they look all the same" id questions... Need time for research, will get back to you.

1:04 PM

@ElendilTheTall, you could be right. Smooth stem? No velum? Smooth, slightly sticky cap?

looks like it - I didn't touch them
you can see how in my photo the cap is slightly glossy on top
@Stephie has hubby got any more use out of his CPL?

Last Monday, when we saw the flowering linden trees.
Still waiting for pictures. Not that I wouldn't nag.
Hubby said to tell you that he's shy about his pictures, @ElendilTheTall

1:22 PM
warum?
we all started somewhere
some of just started at the top of our game and have remained there :D ;)

Said something about being "a mix of a battle horse and a unicorn".

Irony.

still not getting it. long week.

The end is near...

1:29 PM
...

Dang, missed (removed). Am "motivating" two boys to finish their homework.

a typo, don't get excited :)

Sigh, apparently I could just explain fractions better than their teacher. Said our guest.
Why does he get paid and I don't?

1:45 PM
because you didn't become a teacher?
wild guess

Tutoring isn't cheap, iirc.
So any exciting plans for the weekend?

Getting a few bits and bobs for my first sale next weekend
Getting my ears lowered
that's about it

Hi @Arrowfar!

user208178
Hello @Stephie!

user208178
and Tall!

2:01 PM
<upwards nod>

2:14 PM
And now? Where did he go?
Whatever, duty calls. See you later!

2:56 PM
Ugh, I guess I missed him too
The (extremely loud) fire alarm is going off again.
This is the 4th time in a month.

3 hours later…

3 hours later…
8:03 PM
Guys, what do you think:
I have a bunch of old cupcake liners that have gotten kind of "flat". If I use them as is, they have a tendency to develop one or two deep folds.
-> how can I make them usable again.
=> post here or at Lifehacks SE?

Hm, you mean the zigzag folds aren't zig-zaggy enough?

Yup.
And no, I don't see myself pinching each fold manually.

People are going to tell you to buy new ones wherever you post :) but I guess they might do that less on lifehacks.
But I'd trust people here a little more to not just make things up.

1 hour later…
9:21 PM
Another question: I have some large (= around a man's fist or slightly larger) baking potatoes. If I take them with me to tomorrow's bbq, they will need well over an hour to cook. Can I pre-cook them somehow and just finish on the grill or in the embers?
(Or should that go on Seasoned Advice?)
That would all be sooooo easy if I weren't away for four hours before leaving straight for the bbq. <sigh>. All prepping must be complete by tomorrow mid-morning, ready to be just taken out of the fridge and off to the car.
Just set my alarm to 6:00. On a Saturday. The things we do for our children...

Ugh.
Sorry.
I don't think that's a bad question to ask... not sure it will get an answer in time, though.

9:37 PM
There is a question discussing the merits (or lack thereof) of microwaving potatoes before baking. I guess I will try a similar aproach.

9:51 PM
@Stephie You should ask on the site! though I agree you might not get an answer in time.
But...I googled "slow cooker baked potatoes" and there are results?

I'll ask tomorrow, it's midnight here. Thanks, @Catija and @Jefromi! I'll probably wing it somehow.
Good night!

@Stephie Good luck!

2 hours later…
11:33 PM
survey: would you say "come on, man" to a woman?
(is it just a figure of speech?)

11:52 PM
Hmmmm... probably.

interesting - I think I'd say it directed at the universe but not at a person.
