2:22 AM
@Jolenealaska hm.nice slow burny heat but not much flavour. Not really sold on Sriracha other than as a mixer sauce.

2:41 AM
@JourneymanGeek Is the "American" brand available there?

3:26 AM
@Jolenealaska this is the same, American made stuff.

3:52 AM
I've tried a 'local' copy made by my favourite hot sauce maker and I wasn't that impressed either so, its probably just me ;p

I add it to spicy V8 juice along with brine from very spicy chili peppers. Breakfast of champions (although, my doctor is less than thrilled with the sodium content).

lol
I'd guess

I figure my V8 habit alone gives me double my recommended sodium allowance for the day. But it's otherwise very good for me :)

lol
I eat pretty healthy. I'm just not as active as I should be between jobs
and heh, We're having something new to everyone but me at lunch today.
Carrot greens in salad ;p

Goodness, I'm watching an old Iron Chef America. I just watched a pastry chef pipe an entire tray of perfect macarons in about 20 seconds. Uncle!
They look perfect, like machine perfection.

4:05 AM
practice? ;p

Lots and lots. Out of hundreds of macarons I've made, perhaps three have come out perfectly.
These came out pretty close. Wild Alaskan blueberries:
Fussiest damn cookie in the known universe.

4:37 AM
I bet they still taste good, though.

4:48 AM
Too good. I gained weight during my macaron phase.
So then I played with juicing for a while. Show me a recent picture of Ben!

OK
Ummm....
He grabbed the tag on this rattle and shoved it in his mouth... it was a first... and very amusing.

My how time flies. It seems like just yesterday you were announcing his birth.

I know! It's been 3 and a half months already!
He's playing pool, even.

The space jammies are great :)

I like them a lot. He has a lot of space stuff.

4:58 AM
Oh my! There's trouble right here in River City!

Indeed. Andy still plays pool so we went to visit him at the pool hall the other day.

Dammit... brb, Dragon issues

Every time you say that, I imagine that you're actually Daenerys from Game of Thrones.

5:20 AM
He is really getting annoying.
@Catija :-), that's part of the reason I say it!

small human!

I control my Dragon about as well as she did hers in the fourth (?) season.

Hee hee

(not my house-wolf. This young lady decided on the spa treatment today at the dog park ;p)

5:28 AM
Time for sleep. Night!

G'night @Catija

@Jolenealaska ^

LOL that's great :-)

My lad does not like getting dirty
he's a little gentleman.

5:35 AM
My two border collies did that in the backyard once while my husband and I were at work. They had a dog door. How the hell they got mud on the ceiling I'll never know.

They're collies. There's amongst the smartest dogs there are.
I mistrust them almost as much as mini schnauzers, but only cause the schnauzers are masters at teleporting themselves when you're not looking

At some point during collie puppy-hood we decided to make furniture off-limits unless invited. One of the oddest moments in my life was opening the door to see them both standing, still as statues, on the dining room table.
I could only read it as a kind of passive-aggressiveness. "You never actually told us to not stand here."

5:57 AM
lol
roomie dosen't have any place that's off limits. He's afraid of heights so he won't actually get on the furniture
and for some strange reason, he considers the kitchen off limits
any kitchen
Even the one in our old office that we didn't actually ever use as a kitchen

Dogs can be so funny about things like that. My dad's standard poodle will only get out of the passenger side of the car. She'll wait for hours (I've tested) in a two car garage, no matter which side of the garage the car is parked on.
Eventually, dad's softhearted wife would take pity on her and open the correct door.

roomie likes to look out the passenger side only. Even in the back
also hates it when we move anything, ever.

6:18 AM
Have you ever had a cat?

nope
We have an odd cultural dislike of cats.
Both my culture, and it seems the government (they banned keeping cats in apartments)

They can be absolutely hysterical about a new box in the middle of the living room, or heaven forbid, a new couch.

Most of my experiences with felines are street cats. They have their own quirks ;p

A long time ago, that probably had something to do with the development of the odd cultural dislike. Are rodents a nuisance there?

4 hours later…
10:42 AM
@Jolenealaska I think its cause my culture is vegetarian and cats are obligate carnivorous. On the other hand, we like dogs.
Local government thinks cats in apartments will be noisy
makes no sense.

Female cats in heat can get a bit noisy:)

most of the local strays are female
they're fine
the male ones are oddly almost doggishly friendly

1 hour later…
12:16 PM
Stir, stir, stir...
Trying my hand on those cookies.

Nice!

A simpler version - no ginger, no golden syrup.
Minor 2 got roped into kitchen duty: cleaning mâche.

I recently saw that on a cooking show. It looks good.

Very yummy. A winter staple here. But the own ones (in my parents' garden) aren't ripe yet.
<sharpens knife>

What's a normal temperature for you this time of year?

12:29 PM
Often freezing at night, up to ten C during the day. But often there is a warm spell before Christmas: a few years ago I cleaned my windows for Christmas at over 20 C. In a T-shirt.

Garden greens are under a foot of snow here. Temps all this week are supposed to be colder than -23C.

The coldest time here is Jan./Feb., and that's when we have the majority of snowfall.
Unless this winter stays as dry as the last two. And the summers....

I'm pleased that it's cold. Last year, we didn't seem to have a winter.

We have a serious dry spell here. Just too little precipitation. Not as obvious as in California, though ;-)

We never have any kind of water shortage.

12:41 PM
You probably know that I like to dry my laundry outside?
That's always funny on those clear, frosty days. And gets me strange looks from one of my neighbours.
But it works, of course.
And to see a pair of jeans, frozen solid, sway back and forth in the wind is pretty comical.

We air dry our laundry
tho we have a movable airconditioner that's venting its hot air there sometimes

So do I. With a few exceptions. Towels go into the dryer because it makes them soft, for example.

that's how most people here do it

At first glance, that looks like flags.

12:55 PM
Laundry hung if bamboo poles

My melatonin is kicking in. Anyone up to a benevolent edit of the Tibetan dessert question? To avoid "recipe request" close votes?

@Jolenealaska go to sleep, let the comunity deal with it ;-)

I started anyway, I found a possible answer.
But NOW I am going to bed. Goodnight!

4 hours later…
5:02 PM
Cookie time!
