12:00 AM
So, the court date was approaching...

@Jolenealaska ouch! I hope you didn't get it

CN does sound annoying...

I did...it was pretty brutal. But here's the thing. Shithead initially said he would not testify for me.

now that's really mean

He was scared (apparently, he hasn't read the US constitution) that it would be held against him.
So, he threw me under the bus.

12:08 AM
even if it is held against him, he shouldn't make you suffer for his mistakes

It was only after I assured him that his testimony wouldn't be held against him that he deigned to tell the truth in court.

That really sucks.

It was a big stinking deal.
THAT is how much of an ass he is.

@Jolenealaska of course it was a big deal, you cannot be expected to get sued for what was his fault

Well, I paid a $1000 fine and just now my driver's license is clear.
He doesn't see any fault of his at all.

12:13 AM
@Jolenealaska you had to pay the fine despite his testimony?

Even my dad, the lawyer, says it isn't fair, but yes.

I thought your dad was a physicist

$1000, my income for a full month.

it's lots of money for almost everybody.

LOL...:) No, after graduating from Caltech in Physics, he decided physicists were too weird, so he went to Drake Law School.
Where he graduated first in his class and started a pretty illustrative law career.

12:18 AM
ah well, he had luck that your society needs more lawyers than physicists

He was invited to be on the Iowa State Supreme Court, but he declined.

so he's a lawyer now, not a judge? what is his specialty?

Pissed me off :), just once I'd like to face a traffic ticket and say, "Do you know who I am?"
It gets worse....Tax law.
But, he does it well.

@Jolenealaska heh, I can imagine the feeling if you could do that. But I still hope you'll get a ticket even if you are the president.
@Jolenealaska there have to be people to do the dirty work.
You must tell me more about him sometime. But I have to go to bed now, it's 1:30 AM. Don't let CN piss you off again.

I'll try. G'night and happy birth night.

12:26 AM
thank you. have a nice day.

@rumtscho Gute Nacht!

1:18 AM
HEY @ElendilTheTall I'm glad to see you've been here today! I've been worried :(

15 hours later…
4:34 PM
hi @rfusca, how are you?

4 hours later…
8:48 PM
@40 Hello
@ChrisF can I ping you?

9:37 PM
It may be about over (In the US):

@Jolenealaska am I reading too much into it, or is this article biased?
"Failure to act" results in a bunch of states allowing gay marriage sounds like "they should have squished it earlier"

No, I don't see a bias. The use of the words "ducked" and "failed" may make it a bit more colorful, but it's accurate as far as the consequences of the court not taking it further than it did last year.
I was pleased that the issue went as far as it did last year. Alaska has allowed gay marriage for a couple of months now. The state attorney general has just announced that any action to try to stop it will be put on hold until SCOTUS rules.
I'm not sure why I feel so strongly about it (other than having friends and family directly affected), it's very central to me about who we are as a people.

9:54 PM
@91648 does this ping work?
OK, obviously not.

Hmm...PBS is airing an old "In Julia's Kitchen with Master Chefs" (Julia Child, she recently died) The guest chef was very publicly removed from grace a few years ago when he went to prison for embezzlement. I wonder if this was before or after.
His recent restaurant failed (I think), or it came close anyway.
It must be before. Yep, there he is. Much younger.
