<turns on lights, flips sign to OPEN, unlocks door, makes coffee> The Frying Pan is open!
who left this mess? @Cerberus! @Jolenealaska! This is coming out of your wages!

1 hour later…
10:05 AM
@ElendilTheTall Hi sweetie

2 hours later…
12:23 PM
@Jolenealaska boop

12:48 PM
@ElendilTheTall I err can explain.
It was just...we let them in and...then it happened.

It was fun, though...
And nobody got arrested, really.
Only for the night.

2 hours later…
2:45 PM
@ElendilTheTall I'm up again! (at least for now)

3:11 PM
@Jolenealaska boop again

I just definitively answered a question! Behold the power of Google! :)

well done
have a cookie

:)
I wish I had a cookie.
Maybe I'll make cookies today...damn it, I'm out of milk.

how does one become out of milk

By drinking it all...damn it.
I go through a lot of milk.'

3:20 PM
buy more next time...
we recently upgraded from 4 to 6 pinters
two 6 pinters of semi-skimmed and 4 pints of whole for youngin

10 pints wouldn't even last me a week. I probably average a quart of skim a day. A big glass for breakfast and in my coffee all day. Another glass with a meal. I love milk.
Ah 16 pints, not 10. That's a week.

Skim?!
well heck, if you've run out of skimmed milk, just mix some flour and water and use that

3:36 PM
Sometimes I splurge and get 1 or 2 % (I do like it better), but I drink so much that it's a significant savings in fat to get skim. I had a glass of whole milk the other day at CNs, it was like drinking heavy cream.
This is really cute:

bah
filthy American squirrels
which would you rather have cavorting through your woodland?
or

Are they really that red?
those ears are a hoot

for some reason, some dopey git imported the former, which ousted the latter, and now the reds are confined to a few small pockets
Squirrels of Flame!

I raised a baby squirrel once, that was a lot of fun.

was it tasty come slaughter-time?

3:51 PM
The day came when he suddenly went from tame to wild. I brought him to a wildlife refuge to learn how to be a squirrel. Hopefully he had a long squirrel life and made lots of squirrel babies.

as long as he stays off British soil...

Have you ever had huitlacoche?

is that the really itchy one?

AKA corn smut

no
much reduced availability of Mexican food over here (I assume it's Mexican?)

4:01 PM
They're using it on Chopped, it's supposed to taste like truffle.
Yep, it happens all over the world, but Mexicans consider it a delicacy.

4:31 PM
@ElendilTheTall Odd. We have many red squirrels.
And hello.

@Cerberus send some here

@Jolenealaska That's really funny.
@ElendilTheTall They'd have to go into quarantine for 4 months before setting foot on the isles...
I wonder why they were pushed out of England but not out of Wales or the rest of northern Eurasia.

the Isle of Wight, Scotland, and Northern England
ie isolated places grey squirrels didn't get to

Where did the grey ones come from?
I think we have grey ones too? Not sure.

2 hours later…
6:51 PM
@Jolenealaska Where had you posted your brining experiments? I remember you experimenting to see which flavors actually soaked into the meat, but I can't find it now.

7:06 PM
Here you go, sweetie.

Q: How deeply will the flavors in a brine penetrate chicken? (experiment results)

JolenealaskaI'm not asking about salt or "juiciness". I think there is enough evidence here and elsewhere to answer that question with "pretty deep, or all the way to the bone". My question concerns spices and other flavorings in the brine. I want to know not only how far the flavors can go, but also what qu...

7:31 PM
@Jolenealaska Awesome! Thank you!
