8:40 AM
you just don't know how to have fun @hobodave

7 hours later…
3:51 PM
Is deliberately answering a questions badly, so it will get downvoted so you can delete your answer and get the [disciplined] badge considered acceptable?

Bob
I think that's the "peer pressure" badge, actually :p

ahh yes

Bob
disciplined is deleting an upvoted answer

so is it allowed to get the [peer pressure] badge?

Bob
Can't really stop you . . . of course, you'll lose a bit of rep from the downvotes.
If it's obvious you're doing it on purpose, you may not get anyone to co-operate, though.

4:04 PM
damn! wish I'd never mentioned it then :)

Bob
And it could always be flagged and/or deleted by someone with the appropriate permissions.

still didn't answer the 'is it acceptable'. but by your tone, can I assume that you think not?

Bob
It costs rep to downvote an answer, so you'd be costing other people rep so you could get a badge
which isn't really nice

seems a bit of a pointless badge to me, as like you say it encourages unpleasant behaviour just to get the badge...

I don't see a problem with it
it actually encourages good behavior, not leaving crap answers around
I plan to give a stupid/wrong answer to a question just to get some downvotes & the badge at some point

4:11 PM
but doesn't it encourage posting crap answers in the first place

just one
you can only get the badge once

well I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one considering it :)

Bob
It's a bronze badge, not really worth actively working towards.
Unless you reeeeaaaallly just want all the badges :p
You're also assuming that you'll never give a bad answer unintentionally

pkaeding
4:39 PM
I would suggest not pursuing it actively. Sooner or later, if you answer enough questions, you are bound to misinterpret a question, and give a bad answer, which will get down-voted. Then, you can delete it, and get the badge.

4:50 PM
:171056 why waste the effort just to get a badge? Surely you have some unpopular opinion that you could sincerely post to a question somewhere?

Shog9
"There are down-sides I'm sure, but a glass of chicken blood for breakfast has never done me any harm - cheers!"

lol

Bob
Eh, I'd probably up-vote that one

5:51 PM
@shog9 thats probably true. my true colours will come out over time
