I wasn't using `` in my command line.

use ';' after your command

use full path in the command line for xampp where you downloaded it like /downloads/xampp.run

is the full path necessary even if i am inside my ~/Downloads? also i have already tried with a ';'. it showed the same error.

no i have to. before that i need an answer for this. . . did you see that youtube video. i tried many sites. all had this method on first priority. . . thn how could this method of installation can't be possible only in my notebook. . .

I am also amazed the video is giving the method correct and also the download site is official then there might be other problems while running commands anyway try the second method ppa ones they actually update the repositories and then install it. So that you will get direct install you don't have to make it manuall

what does the x64 in xampp-linux-x64-1.8.3-4-installer.run mean ? does it mean that it is an installation file for a 64 bit os ? if it is then it must be the problem. mine is a 32 bit os. . .
