@T.E.D. I wonder now many of those clergy were actually recent crypto-Muslim conversos following the recent forced conversion legislation of Queen Isabella and Emperor Charles.

@PieterGeerkens I don't know enough about it to judge, but I'd personally like to believe they were just more attached to their families than they were to their Religion. Yes, I'm a romantic at heart.
