@DiegoJancic Thanks, that's helpful. So the invitation email failed in that regard. How could the wording of the invitation email have been different, in order to achieve its goal, do you think? What wording would have got better observance of the rules?

Jezz, @EnergyNumbers. Your level of sarcasm is incredible. I'm not a novice either and I participate in several other sites here. Feel free to ask the admins to close it so only you can participate! Part of building a community is being responsible, being serious and allowing everyone to participate. I don't consider and will never consider myself an expert in any topic. There will always be someone that knows more than you so don't consider yourself an expert, and there will always be someone that knows less than you, so don't shut them up.

Actually, I don't think that a summary of reasons of inflation makes it off topic.
I am assuming that having it an expert question means that OP is expert, hence a list of reasons (and references) without explaining the single points is appropriate.
Otherwise I would agree, a full-length explanation of all the potential mechanisms through which inflation affects the economy is a whole-year sequence of course work
