There's not a large enough sample size to tell whether a given spell was more or less effective or why. You're only going to be casting a handful of spells per combat on any given enemy.

@Questor It's not at all easy to observe. Telling the difference between a 50% chance and a 20% chance with a sample size of two or three is nearly impossible.
