Someone suggested I make an edit to a post that I do not agree with. I admit I could be wrong and just utterly confused though. Any suggestions?
Here is the comment in question: These two go hand in hand. When an individual is motivated by desire or sensual pleasure it can oftentimes be at the expense of not hurting themselves and others.
The suggested edit was to remove "not"
How I envisioned the meaning: Actions motivated by desire are often to the detriment of nonviolence, i.e., actions motivated by desire often increase violence. Increasing violence is a bad thing and actions motivated by desire are bad actions. It would follow that bad motivations create bad results.
Is my original comment correct other than the confusing double negative?

@user70 yes, I think removing the not makes it sound as you intended
even though you might logically think it should be "at the expense of [thing that suffers]"
