do you guys have a question for "what to do when a large cell company clearly is mismanaging your PII and you cannot get through their support system to contact someone who can fix it?" or something similar?
they are sending me data usage alerts for an account I closed, which suggests they are horribly mismanaging something
also that email address includes someone elses email too (they thankfully append all email addresses to the bottom of the email) so it seems likely they have a database of "number -- email" for their alerts, but that makes me suspect that other PII of mine is floating somewhere associated with this new account

@enderland - what country are you in? In the UK you could complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. I think most countries have something similar.

@Developer please don't be a troll

@RoryAlsop Did you call for ..oh

@paj28 USA

@enderland - I think it's the FTC in Amercia. ftc.gov/news-events/media-resources/protecting-consumer-privacy/…

that feels like the nuclear option :o

nuke away :)

maybe I'll post this as a question on the main site. but I'm loathe to add another post to my account here :P

this question is kind of related: security.stackexchange.com/questions/7118/…

10:14 PM
yeah, but that's more bad general practice -- not clear mismanaged PII

10:34 PM
@enderland fire the nukes son

I forwarded it to the "abuse@verizon" email address they auto-replied me for their phishing one, guess I'll see what happens
they also autoreplied me saying basically "no guarantee we will address your issue"

ah, verizon eh?

if it was a company I liked I'd be less inclined to do the nuclear option but... it's verizon

seriously, just go to the FTC
it's not that bad
