@ScottPack nope, pretty much any meat and any cheese. Of course that doesnt include fake meat, or fake cheese (e.g. soya, or rice milk, etc). Fish doesnt count though (however there are those with customs around that too)

Q: Solution for Protocol Downgrade Attacks

djreckerI have a Protocol Downgrade Attacks on my website, i have seen the solution to be as TLS Fallback Signaling Cipher Suite Value (SCSV) for Preventing Protocol Downgrade Attacks refer link :- https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-tls-downgrade-scsv/ Can anyone suggest how can we implement t...

thoughts, anyone?
I cant figure out if this is simply a server configuration question (and should be sent to SF), or if its something more than that.

@AviD it's a TLS configuration question I'd guess. we have a lot of TLS questions around so with more information it may turn into a dupe, or it may be somewhat different

you seem very definitive :-)

@AviD - nice work. You ninja-ed me 3 times in quick succession :-)

lol
I didnt have patience to read the longer ones though

7:01 AM
Really confused me on the 1st one - the migrate to crypto

uhh, which was that then?
(short term memory loss)
ah the random keyfile

that was probably it - yes

I was actually hesitant because it seemed specific to LUKS

I was going - why can't I migrate it - this flag makes no sense :-)
anyway - I actually managed to have too little sleep today. Big band practice last night meant I only had 2 1/2 hrs before getting up to come to work

but you didnt migrate it either?

7:03 AM
must go get coffee
Back soon

I left it alone

Morning!
Oh yeah coffee... that will come soon too

@AviD well it sounds (to me) that he's had a security audit finding and wants to fix it. It'll likely turn out to be POODLE or something

@RоryMcCune yeah I thought the same. BUT that doesnt mean it is a simple configuration. it might well be impossible to do....

@AviD well if you disable the broken stuff, it doesn't matter, in practice, if someone downgrades you :)
so if all you support is good ciphersuites on TLS1.0+ getting knocked back down has little effect

7:08 AM
@RоryMcCune the auditor will downgrade you!

@AviD I'll wager they got a finding 'cause it can downgrade to SSLv3

@RоryMcCune true, but I dont know what the details on that SCVS thing is. It might not be supported by standard web servers at all, for all I know.

@AviD BTW are you seeing a lot of apps with a combo of Angular.JS and ASP.NET WebAPI?
happens that I've seen a couple over the last couple of weeks, so it seems to be becoming a theme

@RоryMcCune huh, not too much, those usually dont come together
@RоryMcCune interesting!

@AviD It's pretty new so servers running on old OSes like RHEL5 won't have it I think.

7:10 AM
webapi does happen to be an awesome way of building REST(ish) apps, but I would usually expect something more sensible on the clientside, like ember.

@AviD this guys bitoftech.net huge tutorial set on it might be part of it I guess

Angular.js is sooooo bad even by the standards of JS frameworks.

@RоryMcCune looks nice. will go through that some time.
@TerryChia while I agree that it is quite bad, it is actually quite a bit better than not as bad as common js frameworks.

@AviD Really? I think ember and react is slightly better.

@TerryChia oh yeah, those are the good ones
actually well I havent seen react. ember is good though.

7:16 AM
React brings interesting concepts to the table.

heh you hipsters and your JavaScript frameworks :op

@RоryMcCune heh. thats funny you say that, when what I said was "that crap you use sucky"

all I hear is a bunch of new hipster terms :-)

@RoryAlsop you said that about Shakespeare, too ;-)

@AviD And I was right then too... but I guess some of them still caught on
Shakespeare - just a sweary hipster

heh wonders of the wilderness, was just watching a pine marten eating peanuts

@RоryMcCune cute. what's that dong-shaped thing hanging off the side?

7:46 AM
@AviD bird feeder filled with peanuts
actually if you look right at the bottom of that picture you'll see a squirrel which was rather unaware of the marten (martens eat squirrels)

sometimes, I go too far. Sometimes, I realize.
@RоryMcCune heh. so the peanuts are just there to catch the squirrels to feed the martens?
I wonder what you need to bait the martens for. Do you have a pet python that needs feeding?

@AviD we would've scared the marten off if he had looked like he was going after the squirrel :op

@AviD associated searches come up with this one which targets gamers: blogs.mcafee.com/mcafee-labs/teslacrypt-joins-ransomware-field

we usually don't see martens during the day

@RoryAlsop nasty

7:51 AM
@AviD yeah - but cool name: Teslacrypt

@RoryAlsop good name for a band, too

@AviD heh
@RоryMcCune that's very cool - didn't realise martens were that much bigger than squirrels. Don't think I've ever seen a marten

@RoryAlsop yeah that one was I think bigger than others we've seen but they're about the size of a small cat

@RoryAlsop and that's why you run your session as limited account? or don't...

7:57 AM
@StackExchange I seem to be incapable of grokking pokemon.

@AviD I don't understand it either
age may be a factor

hm

@RoryAlsop yeah could be, I've never really got pokemon either.
hey @TerryChia you're ridiculously young, do you get pokemon?

@RоryMcCune Yes.

@TerryChia \o/ so it's a young person filter

8:06 AM
wow. and with @Simon, we usually have to make the effort of insulting him ourselves.

@AviD it's not up on explainxkcd yet

8:35 AM
.NET CLR running on FreeBSD... who'd a thought it. github.com/dotnet/coreclr/issues/793

Q: Boys only club after work

gloomy.penguinI work in IT so it is almost entirely men all the time. I have never worked directly next to another female in any of my roles. This is entirely outside of work and is a new thing: it is not well established and hasn't been going on long at all. There's a "boys only" group of guys who get to...

This makes me angry

@Adi smash!

10:03 AM
@Adi what part exactly?

Adi
> Oooh, male coworkers having some fun together. How can I get in on that so I can ruin it?
Now, male coworkers behave like friends outside work. They make dirty jokes and have fun.. it's outside work
Female coworker enters the group. Everybody has to change their behaviour
Which would be fine, until one coworker treats the woman equally and make some dirty joke
Then aaaal hell breaks loose
Sexual harassment
I don't touch these situations with a ten-foot pole
Once a female coworker enters a guys fun gathering group outside work, I take myself out.

11:07 AM
@Adi Ok I understand that

11:28 AM
@Adi "equal treatment" really means "equal respect".

raz
I think she's taking it a bit personally. There are plenty of people I work with that I'm on good terms with and I don't want to have a beer with them.

I'm sure there are some guys that you dont make those dirty jokes to. (I dunno, maybe your CEO?)

raz
"guys only" is probably better than, "I dont' want to hang out with you outside work so you're not invited"

@raz completely true. BUT as some of the comments were trying to find out, does this have any effect on work in any way. (e.g. any work decisions made at the pub, any special promotions, etc)

raz
@AviD That would be a completely different situation yes.

11:31 AM
@raz actually its not. It is one thing to say "I dont want to hang with you personally" as opposed to "NO GIRLZ ALOWEED"
@raz well, is it actually different, or the specific situation being asked about? Thats what most of the comments were trying to find out, I think.

raz
I suppose. The comment to "start your own female club" is a bit out of line though.

@raz yeah exactly.
it does show that there is likely an underlying current of genderism going on.

@Adi Obviously, anybody who hosts a "boys only" kind of club either has a shitty relationship or doesn't have a gf and he's frustrated about it.

raz
@Simon Then they'd want girls to be around.... generally speaking.

more to the point, I think this boss is doing a kinda shitty thing - irrelevant of gender, he shouldnt be hanging out with just a small clique.

11:33 AM
@raz Not necessarily, if you get all mad when you see a couple around you then you don't want to see dem ladies.
@AviD Very true.

raz
@AviD I suppose, but (devil's advocate) what if those really are just his friends hanging out? As long as work isn't being talked about... I don't see as big a problem with it.

That question seems to be that it's a outside of work thing. That just happens to consist of people from work. And they just don't want girls (or her) in the group. But it's not a "work thing" really… shrug

REALLY its not.
aint no such thing as "just happens to be".

raz
Most of my friends I hang out with are from work.... or bartenders.

11:36 AM
and, if you work with a group of people who would prefer to exclude a peer based on gender - well, then, you work with a bunch of misogynistic bigots.

raz
None of them were my current superiors though.

(well actually it is possible that they are misandric bigots...)

raz
aaahhhh big words, need dictionary
@Simon do you follow hockey?

@raz heh. spoilers: women haters / men haters.

raz
@AviD DUDE I was totally just about to look that up

11:39 AM
lol

11:59 AM
@raz A tiny little bit, I'm aware of what's happening with the Habs but that's it.
I wouldn't watch a game unless I'm hanging out with people who are watching it.

Adi
12:16 PM
@Simon I fall in none of those categories
and I still enjoy guys' only activities with my coworkers

Why does it specifically have to be guys only?

Adi
For the reasons I explained above

because people hanging out with people like them

I don't change my behavior because there are women around me.

Adi
@Simon Let me guess.. those women aren't your coworkers

12:18 PM
Even, I don't even make "sexual" jokes with dudes, only when there are women around, lulz.
@Adi Well, that is true.

Adi
and that's where the issue is
Once a female coworker enters a circle of male coworkers (who are also friends) the whole dynamic changes

I mean if the girl wants to hang out with them, she must know their attitude, what they're likely to joke about, etc.

Adi
(I'm talking strictly about out-of-work activities)

@Adi That makes me believe that these people are weak.
"omgawd a female @@@"

Adi
@Simon That's not.. uhhh

12:20 PM
@Adi and dont you think that therein lies the problem?

@AviD Voilà.

Adi
@AviD Of course
I agree
but the reason for the change of the dynamics is to accommodate the new female member

So rather than trying to fix the issue, you choose the easy way of denying the person who would like to join the group?

Adi
What issue?
There's no issue

the problem is the dynamics that need to be changed (sic), not the presence of a female who is triggering the change.

Adi
12:21 PM
A group of guys hanging out

There is! A change of behavior because a new person joins because of her gender is an issue to me.

same thing happens when a guy joins a group of girls. they stop talking about girl stuff and try to not be awkward

the issue is that they are excluding a coworker based on nothing but her gender.

Adi
But you're forced to do the change

i.e. they are discriminating based on gender
i.e. they are misogynistic pigs.

12:22 PM
@Ohnana I wouldn't want to hang out with a group of girls only tbh :p
bt;dt, not doing it again.

@Simon you hear the wildest shit man

BUT, if the girl wants to join a man-only group, let her be!
@Ohnana So damn true, haha.

not necessarily. and if it makes the guy uncomfortable, he is welcome to leave.

Adi
I talk to my male coworker friends about my sex life (and they talk about theirs with me), it's part of being a friend
you cannot do that when a female coworker enters the group

@Adi UHHHH

12:23 PM
@Adi WHY?
COME ON!

NOO IT IS NOT

Adi
Hoooohooo!!

and if you are willing to do that with a gay man, who might possibly fancy you, you should just as well do it with a woman

Adi
Am I the only one who worked with female coworkers who would scream "harassment" at every little thing?

OR are you against gays in the workplace too?

12:24 PM
@Adi I haven't experienced that, yes.

@AviD wow that's not a loaded question or anything

@Adi male coworkers too, if you start getting too explicit about your love life.

next you'll ask him if he liked the holocaust

Adi
@AviD I hope you realize we're talking about activities outside the work place
@Simon Wait until you work in a big company and experience that

@Ohnana lolololol

12:25 PM
@Adi but what youre saying means it doesnt matter

Adi
You'll start developing a similar attitude

@Ohnana nah, thats inappropriate

Adi
@AviD Dude.. everybody knows here what you're trying to do
it's not cool

@Adi whats that?
@Kisu isnt even here!
;-)

Adi
@AviD Sorry, I'm not playing this game.

12:26 PM
@Adi ok I honestly dont know what you mean

@Adi I gotta say that it would probably end up getting me frustrated but I would do my best to not generalize and if a very specific girl would want to join a group of guys and I know she's not the type to fake an harassment, I'd welcome her.

I am NOT hitting on you, if thats what youre talking about

@AviD lulz you donut.

@Simon and if she is the type to take offense, then THATS the issue, not her gender

@AviD Yup!

Adi
12:27 PM
@Simon If it's up to me, I honestly have no objection of including female coworkers in activities outside work. It's fun, refreshing, and it adds a new spirit to the group. I like that.

@Adi the problem with what you're implying is that IT should remain a non-girl zone. Unless the girl is willing to pretend to be a guy.
@Adi how so?

Adi
The issue is that, most of the time, I'm forced to regulate my behaviour in front of the new coworker (by the new coworker) in ways that I don't have to in front of male coworkers.

gender is not the biggest differentiator between people!
(well, maybe bioloigcally...)

Adi
@AviD Please, Avi. I'm serious. If you keep doing this, I'm not gonna be able to talk to you.

@AviD gender socialization plays an enormous role

Adi
12:28 PM
I'm talking about out-of-office activities!
Where people are free to choose whomever the fuck they want to hang out with
females or males

@Adi no, youre talking about attitudes in the workplace also. its not just the activity

Adi
or anything in between

@Adi of course

Adi
@AviD Oh my god!!!
I've said it 100 times
OUT OF WORK ACTIVITIES!
OUTSIDE THE WORKPLACE

@Ohnana yes, yes it does. but thats not all of it, and its not even the usual case, outside of stereotypes

Adi
12:30 PM
Jesus, you're the worst kind of troll. You're so plausibly sincere that it's hard not to engage you in a civil manner, only to be hit by the troll-wall

fuckit I'm getting a sandwich

wut??
I am not the one trolling here

Adi
@AviD I'm telling you I'm talking about outside work activities. Then you tell me "Nope, you're talking about workplace"

although.... the fact that I am in agreement with @Simon should have been a red flag for me.

Adi
How can I make it more clear that I'm not talking about the workplace?

12:31 PM
@Adi Yeah, you made it clear.

Adi
@Simon Apparently, not clear enough for @Avi to understand.

ok. so you have a completely different set of behaviors for the workplace?

But @AviD is a donut, you know that.

that is perfectly understandable.

@AviD I gotta say that I do.

Adi
12:32 PM
@AviD OF COURSE!!!

Ah.

@Simon oo Imma have donuts this weekend

@AviD yay! I should do the same!

Adi
I don't behave at work the same way I do at home

raz
Wow this escalated quickly

12:32 PM
@raz inorite? straight into the donuts.

lulz

Adi
@raz Every time there's a similar discussion with @AviD, things go like that. You see, @Avi works from home
and he thinks that everybody else is doing the same

@Adi LOL that miiiiight have something to do with it
hey, now, you're the one that was saying about telling your coworkers about your sex life.

Adi
So, when he says that you should behave at home and work the same way, he actually means it
because for him that's the same place
@AviD A subset of my coworkers who happen to be my friends

@Adi actually, its the other way around.

Adi
12:34 PM
Man, sometimes @Simon appears a lot wiser than @AviD

raz
@AviD I hope you would talk about your sex life with your co-worker/significant other/home body

Adi
I don't know how, but it happens

LOL

I expect to be able to be myself whereever I am. if an office has a problem with that - well, then, thats why my office is in my house.
@raz heh, but she is not my coworker.

Adi
@AviD and there it is. We, mere mortals, don't have that choice
Have you noticed that you keep making this mistake over and over again?

12:35 PM
@Adi you ALWAYS have that choice.

Adi
@AviD Nope

raz
@AviD She has to put up with you at work so...

Adi
Nnnnnooope

you should always expect to bring yourself all the way to work

Adi
When the choice is either to be deported from Finland or working in an office.. it's not really a choice
Is it?

12:36 PM
@raz nah, only when I tredge upstairs for coffee / lunch / etc
@Adi no, you misunderstood me.
I meant, even in an office, one can choose to be human.
i.e. themselves.

Adi
Wow
You're..
wow

is that really the case? that youd be deported if you dont have a job?

Adi
@AviD Yes

raz
@AviD She doesn't bring that down for you? it's the least she can do...

@Adi heh, thank you. I often get that reaction.

Adi
12:37 PM
@AviD My right of residence is tied to my employment situation.

@raz wut??
@Adi ah, interesting. I want to say "that sucks", but it might not for you.

raz
@AviD Just saying the least she can do is bring you down a sandwich.

@raz why? she has her own work.

Adi
Meh, it's alright. This always puts me at disadvantage with work negotiations
and employers know that

oh yeah, and she's not my maid.

Adi
12:39 PM
so I always end up getting fucked

@Adi well ya do what ya gotta do ;)

Adi
:D

o

Adi
I like it when @AviD is not being an idiot

@Adi but now I am starting to get what you get all up in arms about whenever this comes up

Adi
12:40 PM
He's not, but sometimes he likes to pretend he is

@Adi lol. lets let @Simon be in charge of that.

pls

@Simon and there it is!

Adi
@AviD Yup. When I'm offered a position, I just take it. I don't think in the same mentality other people think about it (in other words, I cannot think about what is better for me career-wise)

@Adi I see.
but then your situation is the exception, not mine.
what I mean is dont mock me bro

Adi
12:42 PM
You make it very hard
not to mock you

whatever, just admit that if it werent for your special circumstances, you would still thnk I was wrong
BUT eventually you would come around to realize that I was right, and you should have listened all along

ohnuhnuh

I can't believe you lot just had that conversation and nothing got starred
on a Friday too
.... predicatable :op

you know what cracks me up? the UN published a universal declaration of human rights and Saudi arabia refused to ratify it because ran counter to sharia law
very bold statement on their part lol

@Ohnana what about that time they had the Iranian representative lead up the committee on womens abuse?

12:56 PM
@AviD To allow it?
trololololo

@Adi Can you apply for some form of permanent residency after a couple of years?

@AviD it does put political pressure on Iran to straighten up though

@Ohnana does it? Seems kinda like the opposite.

@AviD it's not like they'll be able to degrade the world's views by themselves. if they try, people will scream bloody murder
